Dear kmfdm,
Excellent question which cannot be answered meaningfully since you did not share data fully!
When a Lion meets an Elephant, there are two possibilities: The lion will overcome and mount the elephant or the elephant will step on and crush the Lion!
The real intriguing question is: While the Elephant can be loosely equated with Jupiter (large, slow, and there are white elephants as we know!) why has the moon been equated with Keshari or Lion? For when moon and jupiter are united in strength and benefically, the gaja-keshari fructifies.
Perhaps another option to look at would involve the Elephant God, Ganapathi who is the son of Mother Goddess Durga who has been represented by moon and rides on a lion!
I shall leave it at that for the collective WISDOM to ponder upon and take further!!

[quote="kmfdm"]Dear Learned Experts,
Does Gaja Keshari yoga gives career in a totally opposite direction of what the person with it planned to become..?
10th house from moon has mercury debilitated.
10th house from lagna is also being aspected by a debilitated mer. and rahu from 6th house.
thanks

Dear Dr.Rohiniranjan,
In my personal novice opinion I think that..
Quote:
why has the moon been equated with Keshari or Lion?
The Moon is being compared to the Lion because in our scenario the Lion controls the Elephant even though it is of smaller size...(using its mind and fiercesome attributes as a tool.)
The Mind which is often associated with the moon may possibily represent the the lion.
"mind over matter"
"Mind over matter could mean the difference between winning and losing.
To be a winner you must think like a winner and believe with all your heart that you are a winner. If you have the slightest doubts as to your ability to win then forget about what ever project or career you are thinking about."
In the other hand if the Lion doubts itself it may possibily run away...
Is it arguable to say that these example possibily represent a man/woman with GajaKeshari Yoga finding themselves in a career that they have ended up with..?
For the most part people I know have or did jobs that in which they did not study for(its mostly true in any western country even people with doctors aren't really working as doctors).
Anyways i have this yoga and since i have been studing in a foregin country i would like to know what kind of jobs that i would do when i get my business degree..?
In our situation...
Quote:
For when moon and jupiter are united in strength and benefically, the gaja-keshari fructifies.
I guess it all depends on which planet is weaker and which one is stronger(moon and Jupiter ) in determining who would win, but i am confused about how they would possibily unite..?
What if i have a jupitor strong but not really strongly has fullness in sagit.(asc) and a waxing moon in gemini..?

Dear poster,
Novice you may call yourself, but you are not *new* in this reality!
I tend not to do readings on public forums, as you may have seen or will realize if you read my posts, partly because of personal philosophy and arrangementes with Crystal Pages, but also because I have little faith in web-readings. Before I look at a chart, I need the following:
=Full name and if changed since birth, the sequence of names used widely (internet handles etc do not count, unless they are significant and that judgment can only be made by you!
=gender
=Your current location (city, country) and the full date on which you moved there.
=Two significant events in life, their description and full dates (format: 02 Jan 1997 -- description of event).
[[I do not use ayanamshas or other parameters that are used by default by many others and so the chart I would be looking at will be very different from others looking at it utilizing *default* values! If you are disturbed by this, please do not venture down this path]]
Given the internet uncertainty, and particularly understandable reluctance in posting publicly all that on this forum of thousands of members, the owner and moderator has provided us with the luxury of private email. Please share the above there. Only then meaningful answers can be given seriously.
Please note that just by sharing all this information, even by private email, this should not be taken as a promise for a reading! I may have other committments that come first!
Now that all those disclaimers are behind us ;-) ...
we can move to the 'general' portion of your message.
Gajkeshari is the jyotish 'box' (I like that better than calling it pigeon hole, even though the yogas do serve a messenger/message purpose if you catch my drift!) in which nativities are placed when guru and chandra are in mutual kendras. Whether from lagna, chandra or surya, as suggested by modern astrologers -- a general dictum followed/advanced in modern literature, please note the following:
The location from moon alone (and not lagna) is null and void generally since that would be like double dipping! Since chandra is always involved in gajkeshari! UNLESS MOON is lagnesha or in LAGNA (see below)
Gajkeshari is a very here and now, worldly yoga in the way it is described in classics, so surya and its 'atmic/atmaic' reference can be laid aside for the time being (unless sun becomes a worldly indicator in a specific chart).
So lagna it is, at least for the first cut. Planets if occupying kendras from lagna (all kendras holding one or more planet) have been called chatussagara yoga and indicate material and worldly prosperity). A gajakeshari from lagna in such a nativity would be significant. Also important would be situations where mutable (dwiswabhava, 3, 6, 9, 12) rashis are rising, because they will have kendra sambhandha and rashi drishti.
With all these sambandhas (communications between the planets) established, the mutual strengths of the two participants would indicate the degree of 'manifestation' that is possible in the nativity's current lifetime.
Next we look into the nature of the two planets. Their nakshatra disposition, benefic/malefic roles in the specific chart (functional) and their qualities in the vargas and vimshopaka, and awasthas, shadbala etc.
Based on all these and other factors, a picture will begin to emerge. A simple yoga like gajakeshari could from this perspective have so many potential grades and gradations that even a non-doctor can readily appreciate, I am sure.
The process is basically simple:
Ascertain the nature of the yoga, its scope, its mission and goal
Examine the participants from the right perspective based on above
Identify the qualitative and quantitative properties of the participants and their networking with significant areas in the chart and its prime indicators (only partly touched upon in my posting vis a vis gajakeshari)
Then, if significant, look into dashas and transits etc to make predictions etc

Dear fellow member,
I would like to share a somewhat tongue-in-cheek fragment of what I wrote recently that has a reference to Gajkeshari and perhaps to some extent was triggered by your response (and several other catalysts that were more pertinent to the remainder of the article on the current transit of jupiter). Since some of us are celebrating the Divine Mother's victory over evil, it is appropriate to post it here. Hopefully you see something that brings a smile :-)

Tired from his long and arduous journey, the Brahmin arrived at his next destination where he must spend time for the next year, nearly twelve cycles of the Sun and knew that Mother will pass him by every month but She will be helpless to ease his pain, his sorrows or to even share the beautiful relationship that they both usually have, surrounded by the best essence of what we extol in the Paradise where the strength and majestic mien of the Elephant was promised to work side by side with the prowess of the Lion, which some have visualized as Ganapati riding His Mother’s Vahana. This in no way is a reference to the modern teenagers borrowing their parent’s car for an evening out, just in case you are wondering! Modern teenagers may wear long jeans that sweep the streets for free like an elephant’s grand trunk, but Ganapatis they are not! But then again, in some countries more developed than others, obesity in childhood and teen years is becoming recognized as a serious health problem, but I digress!
