I have a question about mercury combusting..
Will Mercury combust with sun even though sun in Aquarious sign and mercury is in pices Debilitataed?
with in 5 degrees proximity...?

It is a well known theory in astrology that Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn become combust, during their direct motion, when their longitudinal arc is 12, 17, 14, 11, 10 & 16 degrees respectively from the Sun on either side.

But Mercury being the closest to Sun, according to my view, it should be considered combust only if it is 7 degrees close to Sun, though it is in a different sign from that of Sun!

I don think different signs matter in case of combustion.What matters is the difference in Degrees.
I dont think motion(direcct or retro) of planet matters in combustion.In one of the articles by Vaughn Paul,
he has mentioned this that motion of planet has no relation with its combustion.
though i dont have much expereicen with this but logically i dont think(pesonally) that there should be
any effect of motion on combustion.

Moreover i personally dont agree with the word combustion used for close encounter with sun.I have always being inquistive about the COMBUSTION.Personally i dont think this phenomena can matter much(though it does matter)..It could be coz of presense of strong sun which can coz obstacle in showing other planet its full results but combustion as such cant happen coz planets in reality also CANT get combust bcoz still they r far away from sun.

In Shastras the word which is used for combustion is "ASTHA" that means not visible but that cant be count for combustion which in itself is a separate phenomema..So i think combustion shud not b able to increase or decrease the strength of a planet (not significantly atleast).

Take the case of Buddhatiya yoga ....This yoga cant show effect coz mercury is generally combusted , as u know it cant be more than 28 degree far from Sun but still it does show effect infact it is said(though it is controversial and debatable) that when mercury is in close proximity with sun its effect increases i.e when it is 1 or 2 degree away.So i feel combustion shudnt be given much of the weightage while determining the WHOLE planetary strenght( i am not saying NO weightage:-) ).

Combustion happens to any planet when it is less than eight and a half degrees from Sol (unless it's 17 minutes from Sol, that's another matter entirely.

And that's exactly what Combustion is.  When a planet is Combust, it's hidden.  Hidden objects don't usually work very well.  Like, if I were to hide my calculator, it would be of no use to use to me as I would not have it with me when I needed to work some calculations.  Same thing with a planet.  Venus can't be used so well if she's hidden, so she is considered weak.  Same thing as a planet being in a Cadent house, it's there, but it can't do much.



That's Cazimi, it happens to any planet that is within 17 minutes of Sol.
