Dada,

Everyone likes others job or shall I shall say "Doosre ki Biwi achhi lagti hai". I like Astrology and see those various combinations of calculations and predictions just because I do not know it.

And Aashna Bete,

What have you done? I am not saying about right or wrong. There is one certainty in life: If you have done something good and right you feel much better inside and if one has done something not to be done one feels pain inside. One gets one's reply from within.

I hold you, Rishiji, Rohaniranji and so many many others in this forum in high respect. Trying to have compassion and love for others (Just returned back from a visit to my Sadguru's Ashram after 3 days). Trying to understand others. It is very difficult. We get hurt so easily. We love others very rarely. Yesterday I heard from a Senior Disciple of my Sadguru (His Samadhi lies in Aurangabad) that Baba said HE had received message from God that it was HIS Duty to bring all together and HE was at pains when 100 faithful discples went away after they got their work done. HIS message of Love still remains for everyone of HIS followers and this is what we should be doing. Spreading the message of Love will only bring happiness everywhere and Wars will be just mere words. Following the above will make all of us more and more beautiful wherever the planets remain in our Chart.

Hello Pravin ji,

I think a bigger and obvious problem is the nature of referencing of posts to which members are responding to, for example:

Some don't even quote and it makes one wonder which post or aspect of a post they are responding to. This can lead to apathy or even misunderstanding based on confusion!

Some quote in a somewhat jumbled manner and this is a potential time-bomb of course!

Some edit quotes (because of the length of earlier post, and rightly so) but this can lead to further problems.

Many respond to earlier posts after a long time (they were traveling or busy otherwise) and then that leads to even more confusion.

Such is the nature of the beast!

Anyway, I liked your personal metric! <paraphrased=> If it feels good, then there must something good behind that action/feeling.

to the all the resp gurus!!

excuse me for my naivity !! but since long this beauty thread has been caught between saturn , mars aspecting the lagna. lot of stress was imposed on these 2 planets and their placements in the natives chart, but very less/nothing was said about the rashi in which these 2 planets are placed. I would like to know form the gurus, if these rashis make any difference in addtion to the positions of saturn or mars or any other planet ?? if yes can anyone elaborate ??

Dear Asro,

You are absolutely right. The signs and indeed the other vargas as well in which these two (or any planet) will be will make a big difference and must be considered.

I personally have big problem with such topics where we are simplifying something such as beauty into a few planetary combinations and while on the surface it may sound intuitive to go with the natural benefics as representing beauty and malefics negation thereof, when the rubber meets the road (horoscopes) such simple and intuitive connections and assumptions begin to break down very visibly.

However, that said, one may say that all of these focused discussions are futile then what else could be discuss on an astrology forum. This is indeed very big a problem and a big obstacle. You must have seen that generally speaking, one could bring up a technique and soon there would arise proponents and opponents and charts which illustrate the point being made/discussed and also charts that show the contrary to be the case. Couple that with the linear nature of this discussion process on internet where unless energetically and continually taking place, discussion tends to become disjointed and loses its contextual linkage and in some cases turning into the proverbial dog's breakfast!

This is true even for readings and their post-hoc analysis and critique. People's availability, energy, interest wax and wane and so on.

Perhaps Astrosophy (as opposed to Astrology) is something that has been found to sustain a bit better but then that turns off people who have a practical bent and leaning who want to use this medium just for technical learning and so on.

Sorry for my long-winded answer but hopefully you catch my drift...

Most would agree that this Star of horror films was not a feast for the eyes. He has aquarius rising with retrograde saturn in the fourth house in taurus and aspected by venus. It is interesting to note that saturn is weak in shadbala (but not by all that much!) and placed smack on the arudha! Some may argue or try to explain his ugly and fearsome monstrous horror roles were because the public perceived him (convincingly) as such. But even if saturn was there on the first pada, what about the influence of venus? Surely, it should have softened things a bit, considering that it is amatyakaraka and therefore capable of diverting attention away or give support to arudha.

notice also another thing! In this chart, rahu and not saturn is the primary CEO for aquarius because it is with more planets, including mars, debilitated and weak sun, gulika and retrograde mercury in the 9th house. The 'monstrous' and horror/horrific roles played by the King of Terror, Bela Lugosi, I think fit more with rahu being assigned as the lagnesha in this case and not saturn with all those soft venusian influences and simply an aspect from atmakaraka mars! Saturn is rather weak in this chart and would not have been able to make him that famous just by itself. Again, in the light and shadow medium where he shone, the celluloid reality, rahu is a stronger karaka for the same.

Marilyn Monroe, June 1, 1926, 9:30 h, Los Angeles, USA, the unarguably beautiful icon, very interestingly has the same saturn in foruth aspected by venus in 10th combination as Lugosi. Monroe has saturn in libra hence exalted and strong (Lugosi had it in taurus and weak is shadbala) and Marilyn has cancer rising. She has moon in 7th in a saturnine sign (a factor recently discussed and Asro look at the sign!

Marilyn's atmakaraka is saturn and is lord of 7th house, dispositor of moon (lagnesha) and placed in the fourth house in the star of jupiter who is placed in 8th with mars. Saturn again in this chart is not the ruler of the 8th since rahu is in a dual sign. Rahu is placed in the 12th house where the pada of 8th house is.

Such a strong but 'deposed' (from rulership) saturn can be like a dynamo that is full of force but unable to channelize it constructively. Her long-standing depression and sense of emptiness is not a secret and the strong connection with the moon (sa is final dispositor of moon and also direct dispositor) and its influence on the fourth house of affect and mental contentment make a good correlative fit. She was found dead on the morning of august 5, 1962 from barbiturate overdose. By the ayanamsha I use, close to Raman minus 30' and savanamana year that I use, the dasha comes to be JU-RA-RA-SA-RA. It was a saturday when she Overdosed. Shani was transiting the 7th house almost ON the transit rahu-ketu axis and jupiter retrograde was in the 8th house almost at the midpoint of natal jupiter and mars! Transit jupiter was in rahu's star and rahu in saturn's star.

I am not trying to make a point that this kind of direct coincidence will happen in every chart and each time but such correlations do make one pause and wonder!

I do not wish to take up more of the bandwidth on this morbid topic. Let us return to beauty instead!
