Normaly Mannglik is, if the Mangal(Mars) is in the Lagna(1st) , 7th, 8th, 2nd, 4th or 12th houses. 1,7,8 is considered as strong Mangalik and 2,4,12 is considered less(half of the 1,70r 8). Some astrologers even consider the Mangalik is not only from the Lagna but also from Moon and Venus. The astrologers whom I know consider when Mars is NEECHA in one of the Manglalik positions(houses) is the STRONGEST Manglik.    

As far as I know only Mars(4,7,8), Jupiter(5,7,9) and Sa(3,7,10) have aspects other than 7th house. Sun aspect only the 7th house. It depends from Which Rasi it aspects which house.

The position of Mars is said to cause Kuja dosha in the above positions from moon and Venus instead of Lagna.

If we believe that Mars causes Kuja dosha due to its position from the ascendant, then 50% of the people will be subjected. If its caused from the position from the moon and Venus then 80% to 90% will have it.

However this Mars will not give an unfavorable life in terms of profession, although it may have felt unusually stressed and never made you feel settled. Of course I say this at the absence of taking other factors into consideration.

I know you are correct (and literal in what you posted, Rishi ji) but in my understanding, mangal dosha arises when the two horoscopes do not have mars (or saturn in the other partner) in houses 1,2,4,7,8 and 12.

Like many a situation, it takes "two to tango" in this revenue-generator for jyotishis and related 'professional priestly' types in some ancient cultures!

For a long time, sadly, karmakanda/tantrik mentality had been polluting jyotish even though the two are unrelated! Just as India and its invading cultures for instance, were over the past few hundred years!
