<<Come on fellas. Stick to topic. I think it is a very straight forward question whether astrology can help to win the lottery or not. Not about the frailities of human beings blah blah blah. I repeat, are there any planets or signs that one can predict (which is astrology in the first place, a predictive "science) to help for windfall chance. It is not like I will be making thousand of dollars bets every week and eat my family to the dog house. No. Maybe a dollar or two of my spare change a week to try my luck base on my best period for such luck. If you want to share your philosophical musings, please start your own posts about this subjects. Thanks.>>

The poster <?> wanted to find if there is a simple and straight-forward astrological way of ensuring that one gets a  bit of 'extra' income through games of chance (he said lottery but in that kind of mental framework, what is wrong with poker if your country of residence permits? Or for that matter football, cricket or hockey pools? Or DOG RACES even -- which interestingly is threatening to put a professional sportsman on ICE, if you have been taking the time to watch or listen to the news and not spending all of your free time here in the MISTic Forum! (Sorry -- Swetha and other owners/moderators!).

The querant asked: How can we get a few dollars or Rupees or Yens or Euros through winning lotteries? NOT thousands (why not millions?) of monetary units but just a few!

The querrant has this naive and unrealistic image in his/her 'brain' that views astrology (or did when the challenge was posted!) as a look-up table!

If you have certain this and that condition in your chart (like some dhana yogas = wealth(y) combinations) then you are assured of wealth!

For instance if the 2nd lord (wealth) or 11th lord (gains) are strong and mutually placed in exchange etc -- logic says that you must gain wealth. And if the 9th and/or 5th lord join the party then success is guaranteed!

Makes logical sense but when one takes the NEXT DARING STEP, namely, trying to see in some REAL charts that this indeed comes true, suddenly a new page opens! It is called REALITY.

Scientists face that daily and if we were to call and claim that Astrology is a SCIENCE, we should embrace that experiential reality and not run or hide from it!

But it is not just about 2, 5, 9 or 11 alone dear friends because sometimes when the indicator of losses chooses to take shelter in the house of wealth and acquisitions, it is at times seen that the "wealth" acquired in this lifetime is not about money but love!

Love in all its forms, and not all received as most would expect!!

In that case, it should be easy for the astrologer to predict that the native will not acquire wealth. Pretty simple, isn't it?

It might also be as simple as our way to define wealth.

We are saying that Astrology are an ancient science that are build on ancient knowledge.

The question is....What do this ancient knowledge mean with wealth.....it is not saying anything about money....wealth is love...wealth is knowledge...wealth is family...wealth is friends.....and so on.

Today when we talk about wealth we define it as winning million of dollars in a lottery.....but in fact it has nothing to do with wealth....if you have lost all the rest ....you are able to buy food and property.....but you can't afford to buy really good friends , family , love or happiness

So if you really follow that thought...you will see that money and property aren't wealth at all...because you can own billions and be poor...but you can also own nothing and be rich because of all those other things in life.
The urge for money itself is a destruction for a happy life.

Rhutobello and others,

There have been astrologers and jyotishis (separating the two just for clarity and not any negative sense of discrimination!) who have tried to see higher and lower patterns and expressions of what astrological indications symbolize. The same combination interpreted to mean someone going far abroad or one going to far realms (death). Indeed in most jyotish texts foreign travel has been associated with difficulties, a bad period etc etc. Well not so anymore for most if not all!

Anyway, in my mind there is little doubt that jyotish had the primary purpose of aiding the common householder. The pontiffs, sadhus, mahatmas, and beacons of social conscience and spiritually great ones were not what jyotish was created for, they should have been by then able to fly on their own. That is why saints of India did not give too much emphasis on astrology although not denouncing it completely!

One may put whatever spin they want to put it, to support their line of thinking, but it would be inappropriate to try and look some higher meaning intended in what the original astrologers said and meant!

I realize that wealth can mean spiritual wealth, lasting wealth (soul growth) but for the individual who is leading an ordinary and regular life, such philosophizing can be frustrating, irritating and in one word: USELESS!

Astrology (like its sister crafts: tarot, palm, iching, other divinations) have often suffered because of over-interpretation by some of the practitioners. Most of the vagueness and diffusion of clarity comes from these individuals, into the noble craft of astrology which some devotionally (and devotedly) individuals keep claiming as a science!

Wealth is money (not even property for which there are separate indicators!

Dear Ranjan ji,

Please confirm the following: After the death of one of your parents, did the other parent's demise take place quickly, within weeks, perhaps? Is this true?

If you feel uncomfortable answering this, you can pm me.

Thanks,
Suresh
