Though based on logic where possible, I consider astrology more empirical (based on observation). Very little of logical basis of astrology (if that!) is really known. People find a bit of logic here and there and break into a devotional song! Which is fine, but not enough!!
I do not think the nature of mangal dosha has changed, but the institution of marriage has changed a lot more than mangal dosha, even between the 40s/50s and the 80s/90s which for some reason you call new age, a term that I believe was used by theosophists in 1800s and early 1900s!

[quote="RishiRahul"]Back in the 60s and 70s when jyotish was learned and practiced in more 'innocent' climes (for which I am ever grateful, really!) mangal dosh was clearer. It was associated with ill-health and possibly demise of spouse that did not have a balancing mangal dosh! - quote RohiniRanjanji
Sir,
In the older days it was certainly simpler.
Manglik dosha meant ill health or death in the old days.
In the new age it means death/ ill health too, but more in mental and emotional terms. People are more intolerant.
I am saying this from actual of actual horoscopes of the late generation.
Logic from your from your side is welcome.
