Dear Chawla ji,
While the 'wise people' regroup and find time, please allow me to slip in a post if I may ...
There are indeed great 'principals' and for me Parashara is definitely one whoever HE was or perhaps still IS!
And the PRINCIPLES He is purported to have given us are worth our note too as of all others after him or those that came before him (if you have access to their writings!).
A horoscope is just a seed. When you see and hold a seed, how well do you know what it will or can be when fully grown?
You and I may not have a clue, but a professional farmer may...?
Perhaps there is a hint in that analogy!
A professional is one who has decided to devote his or her life to a profession.
Is Astrology a profession? Can it be a profession in modern times? That is the real question, hence I have changed the subject header with your unexpressed permission ...
SHANTI = PEACE

[quote="Chawla"]Respected all wise people
the question, I am asking hereunder, might have already been answered or clarified somewhere in this forum and I might have read that also but still I would like to ask again.
What a horoscope tells? Whatever general principals are there, but what they basically denotes - does that denotes the basic psycological tendancy of the native, (I mean to say -does those yogas or placement of plantes dentnotes how the native will respond to situations to ultimately achieve or fail) OR a horoscope clearly state the events likely to be happened in the persons life w.r.t. yogas and dahsas/transit?
Supoose in a horoscope, the planetory positions are such that one will earn his bread through service. What an astrologer would conclude from this yoga -
conclusion (A) the native is having skills/tendancies/or his psycological mindset is more suitable for service and he will tend to put more efforts to get a job and due to these tendancies or his skills or his pscylogical mindset he will go in the field of service but not for his own business.
conclusion (B)
(B) One is destined to earn his bread through service irrespective of his own wish for service or business. (There might be many people in service despite having wish for their own business)
In other words I am asking is - Whether planets IMPELL us, try to influence our mind, our perception to situations to act in a perticul style or our yogas COMPELL us take action in such a way so that most likely or destined event will occur at its perticular time?
When antardasha lord saturn was transiting 4th house and Mahadasha lord Rahu was transiting in 12th house and aspecting 4th house, the person left his home for far away land - was this DESTINED or it was his own decision under the INFLUENCE of rahu & saturn?
If everyone has the boon of freewill to change his destiney then why few people have stronger will power than others? If our will power or our perception to situations is controlled by planetory positions in our horoscope (moon specially) then our free will power is also part of our destiny.
It is said that the great souls evolved this devine science so that one can know himself and uproot his karmic debts to progress well on the path of supreme truth. I request the wise/knowledgeable people of this forum to come forward and tell the new learners that how this devine science helps us to improve our psycological/spiritual frame to make best use of the present birth and not just searching the rajyogas for making quick bucks by this great science .

Respected Rohiniranjan Ji,
In my opinion, definately, the role of an professional astrologer is there, somewhat similar to a professional psycologist. In modern consumerist society when stess level is high, psycologist and astrologers both have their roles to play, not limiting to suggesting special pujas/gems but as a wise counsellor for finding characteristics profile and ways to overcoming the psycological shortcomings & building right attitude.

What an interesting observation, Chawla ji!
One of my projects dealt with looking into similarities between the astro-signature of astrologers and clinical psychologists (and physicians generally) and there are some very uncanny similarities, though their roles do not really overlap that much. Certainly their 'techniques' and training does not :-)
I hope MA will give me the opportunity to finish that project so that I can publish it some day.
