Saturn
Saturn is at its brightest magnitude of the year at the start of the month, while in Leo, the Lion. This increase in brightness occurs due to the differences in orbital speed of the Earth and Saturn. Every year and a few days, the Earth 'overtakes' Saturn – a moment known astronomically as opposition.
One consequence of this is that Saturn is visible for the entire night moving from the north-of-east at sunset to the north-of-west at sunrise. Take a look as the almost full Moon skims above Saturn on the 2nd at about 10pm.
