Hey all,

How do we time events accurately? Like, let's say, events such as marriage, going abroad, getting better jobs, financial gains, etc. Do we solely focus on the dashas and synthesize there on or are there different techniques?

I'd really appreciate in-depth feedback.

Namaskaar Krisna,
The tools for timing event are many,
Dashas - various types like graha dasha, Rasi dashas and nakshsatra based (udu dashas).

Transits - from the - moon, lagna, the various  Arudhas, the divisional charts, Astakavargas (kakshas). various chakras like Sarvatobhadra, Kota chakra, surya kalanala etc.

The solar return and the tithi return charts.

the chart for the start of a chart (dasha pravesh chakra).

Various methods of progressions (yes they are there even in Indian astrology)

Plus the nimittas and various secret techniques as per the tradition from which the Astrologer belongs.

It is easy to get confused looking at all the factors, but an Astrologer should have a working knowledge of all these plus initially the astrologer should apply this practically to charts, slowly he/she will find some technique working for him/her better. Then he/she masters these.

After a few tries it becomes second nature.

For now,
vivek

namaskar vivek ji,
u summed up pretty much everything there, and it really is true what u said abt, "slowly he/she will find some technique working for him/her better."
I don't know why but I am really attracted towards ashtakvargas, I have a basic working knowledge of them, but I have been unable to find the rules and guidelines pertaining to timing of events using ashtakvargas, but something keeps telling me, it is a wonderful method. It would be really wonderful if you could elaborate on the timing using ashtakvargas.

many thanks
sahil

Namaskaar Sahil ji,
Ashtakavarga is really not my area of expertise. We can always start with the easiest method of learning -Books
A few recommended list'

If you know Hindi - Ashtakvarga by Acharya Mukund Daivagnya (i think it is a Ranjan publication book)

Dr. B. V. Ramans book.

Chandulal patel ji's book on Asthakvarga.

See the link for what is known as Krushna's Ashtakavarga system, you will love it.
http://krushna.sageasita.com/

These are pretty much the resources i can provide you with right now.

I also heard from Punditji (Pundit Sanjay Rath) that amongst the present Astrologers there is non to match Shri K. N. Rao as far as Asthakavarga is cocerned. i have no idea if He has published any works on it.

for now,
vivek.
