Can you tell which book you have read that.
Vedic astrology is such a science which can read taking only one statement into consideration. It should be understood in what context the statement is made. Kindly post the full text of the statement, and in which chapter of the book. This would help others to clarify your doubts

I've read it in "Lessons on Vedic Astrology", by P.V.R. Narasimha Rao, Volume 1, Lessons 1-45, Compiled by the Students of Sri Jagannath Center - Boston /Lesson 16/.
I find the book very useful for me because of the clear and concise way of explanation of basic concepts and rules. But as it contains just notes taken by Jyotish students there are many statements in it without further explanations as it is the case for Atma Karaka and karakas in 6th, 8th and 12th from it
