well sorry if the actual positions are not useful but mercury gets combusted in two ways
when its in front of sun and when at the back (retro).similarly with venus but all others have to be behind the sun.
so how are the planet's rays still at work? just a doubt.

Dear fellow-member,
If planets only exerted their astrological influences through some physical energy or rays that were like 'light' and needed the source (or reflector as most planets are!) to be in the line of sight unobstructed, then jyotishis should be ignoring:
= the influences of all planets when they are in superior conjunction with sun (sun between earth and the planet)
= Each total solar eclipse should result in weakening or absence of whatever it is that sun represents in such an eclipse born nativity.
= Each individual should only be influenced be the planets that are on the 'risen' side (houses 7 to the ascending degree, for the remaining will be blocked by earth's enormous mass.
Particularly the influence of poornima moon in the case of all day borns!
Even in the Jyotish context the 'rays' or 'rashmis' are not shown as the rays that would deal with the visible vs invisible.
Good question, by the way!
