vashtu not dealing with building and structures, it also deals with various astrological forces in play and how to construct house with harmonius combination.

It is the science of placing, constructing and organizing buildings, so that they are in perfect harmony with the cosmic and magnetic energies that are constantly interacting with each other on the surface of our planet. Vastusastra is applicable to all construction, either residential buildings, commercial buildings, townships, temples or any place for worships, or any living space, dockyard, factory, stadium etc, it is the Indian science of Architecture. It is applicable to the surroundings and also to the interior decoration of the house or any building.
