Do we need AI to possess the functions of the unconscious mind to successfully simulate Intelligence? Without dreams our minds cannot work, so surely it would be the same for artificial minds? Maybe this abstract thought process would allow for greater cognitive learning. But to get that under our power we would first have to understand the human mind and how we dream…for the job won’t be possible without it.

The only way to define every aspect of the human unconscious mind would be an extremely inhumane act of stripping away all conscious thought from a large number of peoples' brains so even while they're awake, they are existing solely on the unconscious, and we could monitor the behaviour of everyone and draw generalisations from the sample group.  Either that or make some incredible advances in psychology that would border on being able to predict the outcome of a rugby game based entirely on a psycho analysis of every player's subconscious mind :P

But then, I'm no psychologist, all I am seing is the subconscious mind and a rather inconvenient obstacle which obscures it from view :P
