I hope I might find some help here, I have had to change my graphics card ( the old one's fan wasn't worlking)  and since then I am getting a ripple or wave effect every time I try and scroll down to read a post. Its really wierd and I wondered if any of you techy types could help me with what I need to do to fix it? Is it because the new graphics card is too small? I only get this problem when scrolling down, even slowly, on message boards and web pages, everything else works fine, even videos.
Thanks for any help  xx

Have you made sure the graphics driver is correct?  Also, I have seen instances when video cards change, especially when the chipset changes (like ATi to nVidia or vice versa), that often the problem of performance is resolved by reloading the motherboard driver (because there is an AGP issue needing arbitration) and then reloading the graphics driver.  Less video memory, of course, could be the problem as well.  I mean if you want from a 256MB AGP to an 8MB PCI card, you aren't going to get great performance.  Probably not the case, however, if video playback is good. I have seen defective graphic performance on a bigger and better video card, although video is okay, when there is a driver issue like I mentioned.

I think You also shall take another approach. I think it use wrong drivers.

The way I remember it you have to uninstall your previous drivers before you can install new ones.

1) Change your screen settings to 600x800 (windows limit)

2) uninstall grapich drivers for previous card. (if you have installed for this card...remove them too)
here is from one vendor:

   * Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

turn of pc, this because the old driver is loaded in memory, and change cards.....you have done that

Now hopefully your PC see that you have a new card  when it start....else take add hardware....or read the install from your card.

The main question is....did you remember to remove the old drivers?

Sorted!!

And no I didn't remove the old drivers, lol oops,  did what you both suggested and still no luck, then I changed the resolution and that worked, it seems to be the downgrade in size, this poor one is only tiny awwww. Will have to get a replacement bigger one,

thanks to both of you xxxxx
