Hello. I'm a novice at Tarot and I wanted to make sure someone with better experience than I could possibly do a reading for me?

Right now I am a full time student at a community college where I live. When I graduated back in high school (2007) I decided to give school a break, get married, and start a family. Now that I've done that I was excited to begin my college life. Growing up I've always wanted to write but was always so unsure because I never thought I was any good at it. So I lied to myself growing up about what I wanted to be and I told myself and everyone that I wanted to be a police officer. (I never told anyone about the writing) Now that I'm a mom and a wife, I feel that if I were to be a police officer, theres a chance of me getting killed on duty and I dont want to leave my family behind so early in life. So now in school, I am taking general studies because I was unsure of what I wanted to do. But now I feel like I do. I want to write screenplay and direct movies. I would be doing what I love by writing! And I woulnd't have to worry about not being good enough because screenwriting is a lot different from books/articles. So i started writing a few of them on my own time for practice and I have such a great idea for a movie! But I feel that to get the best out of it all I would need to finish school. My question is (and what I would like a reading on) is if this is a good idea. Should I chase after this? Or am I dreaming too big? I would love to see what people have to say!

I am sure Cedars will give you a good reading, and some useful advice on your question.

I myself will only give some responses, seen out from life experiences.

First of all.....We shall all have a dream....and if possible we shall follow it....if not....we will later start to regret...and ask ourself....what if.

Second....if we burn for a thing....and we feel we have the abilities....and even the ideas....then we shall pursue it....it might not always be a success at once....but we will be able to explore....even if we must take some "side work" in order to survive....in the end we know.

Third...or maybe first....do finish school.....you will be surprised how often you will have use for your education...even if we can't se the connection directly.....Education open your mind for thoughts....education broaden your view....which you also will need in storytelling if you want to do it serious.

As for beeing killed....or hurt....then life itself is the greates danger for that.....there is fare more citizen that are killed, on open streets, then police officers.....there is far more injures done in a kitchen...then on the most dangerous workplace.....so live your life to the full...with the normal attention to own security...then you will have a better life.

And as a ending....always have belief in yourself...you must pay for every action you do in life...then be sure it is your decission that are the reason, both for happiness, or eventual downfall.....one is for sure...Life comes never with guarantee...that is why none can tell you what to do

Good luck

Dear Dobbys Socks,

I echo everything that Rhutobello has said about your questions. I suppose there is not much that I can add to what he has already said.  However, the topic your have raised is so very dear to my heart and it touched many chords with me....

Like you, I had always wanted to become a film director. I wrote my first play at school and I produced, directed and starred in it. It was a huge success in high school.  Writing has always been my passion and I have written short stories and have a novel sort of unfinished and sitting on my hard drive. Why didn’t I pursue my dream(s)? Life itself; the need for survival was far greater than my desire to become a famous writer or a film/stage director. Things change, circumstances change; you leave country and change home and then change yet another one until you settle somewhere. Then direction of life changes too and you get involved in other things. However, writing has always been my love and only recently I have gone back and started looking at my stories and one of them touched me so much that I edited it and is sitting on my hard drive...... yet again.

So, whether you may be killed in a police career, airline pilot or a teacher is really irrelevant. Death will chase us when it is our time.  I took the practical approach to life, and catered for the material needs that myself and my family were in need at the time – and those were some crucial times. I do not regret the diversion for in hindsight things would have been difficult on the survival side of life.

Writing is something that demands total dedication and discipline. Let downs, rejections and constant editing and more discipline. I am not trying to put you off and I am sure you know all of this already. You will soon find out that writing screenplays is as hard and demanding as writing a short story. There is huge competition out there.
The question I will put to you: can you afford to study and at the same time be a mother and also write? If you can, I would say, go for it and chase your dream rather than say one day – I wish I had done this or that...

No one can tell you if you are or will be good at it or not except you and what you create.

I cannot give you a reading if the career you are contemplating is the right or the wrong one for you. No one can or should tell you that. And, please do not go asking for readings from a zillion number of psychics about this for you may be getting contradictory answers to your question. All I can say is if you believe in your dream then go for it.

I picked a card for you by way of focus and insight and I hoped for a Major Arcana card. And, indeed, I got TEMPERANCE.

The message of this card is all about moderation and finding the right balance in what we do in life. In your case I feel it is telling you as a parent, wife and someone full of passion about something which you wish to do, to find the balance of all that you have around you and proceed accordingly. The balance and moderation is that of the mind, soul and spirit. The imagery of this card is the archangel standing one foot in water and the other on land mixing water from one cup into the other thus balancing things out. He is neither discarding the water in one cup nor being satisfied with the contents of the other cup. The road ahead can lead to a bright sunrise, but that can only be achieved by moderation and finding the equilibrium that you need between the material and the spiritual world.

I hope this made some sense to you my friend.
With best wishes to you.

Blessings
Cedars

Thanks for the advice!

I guess I always told myself I wanted to be a police officer just because it would be like the movies anyway lol. (I know thats far from true LOL)

And thanks, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. ;P
