Hello Leadinglady
I am sorry for this late response to your request.
Looking at your career path and looking if there will be a change in your career path from that of Admin work to something else are two different things, albeit connected to each other at the same time. You say you have only been able to find Admin work. Does this mean you are qualified in a specialised field and that you cannot find a job in that particular field or is that a personal wish of yours to migrate from admin to something else? Sales? Technical role of some sort? The question that IF you will find a different area of employment is conditional on many other things and in the way I look at the cards, I cannot see an answer coming out of that.
Strictly speaking you can only ask one question for a reading. You are in a way asking three questions: general reading, career path and career change. Let us stick to the vocational/career direction. This may also bring in some insights about your life, outside of your career. We will not know until we lay the cards down.
I am using the Rider Waite deck.
1. What is going on your job/life now? The Empress.
The card for all things feminine, motherly and nurturing nature, sexuality, reproduction and abundance are all represented by the Empress. I feel currently your feminine instincts at their highest state whether it is your sexuality or your mothering nature. Whether you wish to mother a child or your life is centred about caring and looking after others or whether you are sharing the abundance that is around you with others in your life. This is a very positive card and perhaps may present a conflict in relation with your quest for a career change or your further ambitions in your career. Are you perhaps thinking about starting a family or increasing your source of income? This is what is happening in your life at present.
2. What you want? Five of Cups.
I feel you may have incurred losses – either personal or professional – and you wish to recover them without realising thought that all is not lost yet. The man in this card is grieving his loss with his head down, looking at the three toppled cups in front of him whilst there are two still standing upright behind. He is so engrossed with his grief in losing the three, that he fails to see that all is not lost, that he can still make do with what he’s got. If you unhappy with your current work and are grieving that unhappiness, you should realise that the possibilities are still there for you to cling on to what you wish to achieve. All you need to do is go come out of this process of grief and self-pity and just take a different look at your life or chances in your work area.
3. What you need to focus on? Queen of Pentacles.
Hmmmm... we have another woman here or the energies of a woman who is kind hearted, generous, loving and financially secure. If this is a person in your work circles, then perhaps you need to concentrate on your relationship with her. She is willing to help and she will do so with a fair mind and a genuine desire to help.
4. What blocks you (hidden factors) Ace of Swords.
Inner strength and the ability to convey your thoughts and ideas. The Ace of Swords represents new beginnings in the area of personal strength as well as the ability to communicate your thoughts and ideas. Even in the presence of this inner strength, I feel you may lack the self belief in putting them forward and presenting them in a way to convince others of their validity.
5. Your talents: The Lovers. Six of Wands.
These talents are available to you whether you are using them or staying dormant and inactive within.
There is a tendency with you to do what you do with great love and dedication. You are able to discern the good (and the bad) around you. You have those qualities to bring them together and make them both work for the best possible outcome. You are liked by your peers (Six of Wands) and can assume a leader’s or a leading position – team leader, department head? You can earn the trust of the people around you (or those you work with) and can assume a leading role thus earning the respect of others around you.
All these are at your disposal as talents or abilities within you. Are you using them? Are you being given the chance to use them?
6. What are you in need of? Advice/Help? Five of Wands.
We see five people raising their wands and having a good exchange with each other. This is not a fight, but airing of their thoughts and ideas to bring about a change. Are you raising your voice to make yourself heard in your work environment or in life in general?
7. Near future, if things stay as they are: Four of Cups.
Despondency, stalemate, depression and a state of sitting and wishing things were different and dreaming how things could be different. A state of mind which says....’’what if this...... what if that...’’ Do we want this to happen? No, of course we don’t.
Okay, let us look again at the whole reading here. Unless we awaken and come out of step 2 and face our obstacles (step 4) then perhaps we can start using our talents (step 5) which we know we have and yet have suppressed them for some reason or another or have not been given the chance to use them positively, then step 6 becomes a necessity in order to avoid the outcome of step 7.
I hope you find this an empowering reading rather than a predictive one which I try to avoid.
I look forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes.

Thanks for your time Cedars.
You and the cards are right on target!
My responses to my reading.

As far as qualifications, I do have a BS in Information Systems and a MS in Human Resources. I’m hoping that I will be able to switch to one of these fields or something more exciting and lucrative. Right now I feel that my location has held me back as there are not many jobs here. Also, self-doubt has held me back.

Right on! I do want to mother a child as I do not have children and that is one of my current wishes. Also, my life is centered around caring for my mother. I would also like to increase my source of income.
2. What you want? Five of Cups.
I feel you may have incurred losses – either personal or professional – and you wish to recover them without realising thought that all is not lost yet. Yep, I have incurred many losses in both personal and professional aspects. Most of my personal losses were incurred during my childhood and some as an adult. Me wishing to recover my losses is true as well.
This is true. This one can go either way. I have a coworker who is a financial advisor. She is always telling me about finances and listens and advices me on other areas of my life.
4. What blocks you (hidden factors) Ace of Swords.
Inner strength and the ability to convey your thoughts and ideas. The Ace of Swords represents new beginnings in the area of personal strength as well as the ability to communicate your thoughts and ideas. This is right on. I feel you may lack the self belief in putting them forward and presenting them in a way to convince others of their validity. I know this is my area of weakness.
5. Your talents: The Lovers. Six of Wands.
These talents are available to you whether you are using them or staying dormant and inactive within.

All these are at your disposal as talents or abilities within you. Are you using them? Are you being given the chance to use them?
My talents are lying dormant. I often question what my talents are because they are not readily apparent such as singing or something easy to spot.
6. What are you in need of? Advice/Help? Five of Wands.
We see five people raising their wands and having a good exchange with each other. This is not a fight, but airing of their thoughts and ideas to bring about a change. Are you raising your voice to make yourself heard in your work environment or in life in general?
No, I am not raising my voice in the work environment or in life not verbally. But I do pray about these areas.
7. Near future, if things stay as they are: Four of Cups.
Despondency, stalemate, depression and a state of sitting and wishing things were different and dreaming how things could be different. A state of mind which says....’’what if this...... what if that...’’ Do we want this to happen? No, of course we don’t.

Any advice on tackling these obstacles and coming out of self-pity process? Again thanks for the reading. Very precise!!!

First of all, thank you for your detailed feedback. Very much appreciated.
You are well qualified to do work much different to the one you are doing right now. But, as you said, you live in a place where the demand for your qualifications is not sought after. That is not your mistake; it is the area where you live. Now, this puts a dilemma on you for a chance to make a big change in your life. Would a move to another town/city compromise your mother’s care? Is she totally dependent on you for care? If yes, then would that be any different in a new location?
Giving advice on how to turn your life around can be easier said than done my friend, for I do not know all the details and the circumstances surrounding your life. But, I do feel you can change things still by coming out of the box and viewing the world with different eyes. I feel you are already in the state of the Four of Cups in as much as despondency and despair that surrounds you right now. All you need to know to get out is command some attention on your inner self that you want more and you are going to get it and that you CAN get it. Would your mother agree to these changes or is she comfortable with the way things are? Does she resent change?
You see, the more I ask these questions, the more I fear I may be treading on unchartered territory... but the best person to change your life is YOU my good friend. Wouldn’t you agree?
You have a lot of potential to move ahead and forward in your life; if you really, really wanted to.
What do you think?
