~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your New Year Reading ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Significator, 3 of Swords
January,
Mind, Judgement
Body, Justice
Spirit, 8 of Batons
February,
Mind, The World
Body, 10 of Chalices
Spirit, Queen of Chalices
March,
Mind, Knight of Pentacles,
Body, The Chariot
Spirit, 6 of Pentacles
This layout can give an overall image of the influences that may affect you over the next three months. At first glance we can see that each month has at least one Major Arcana card. January has two which means that it may be a very important month for you. February has one Major and two Chalices, and so may be more concerned with relationships and emotions, and March swings more towards the Pentacles and financial and material matters.
Lead Card
Significator, 3 of Swords
This card is showing your feelings at the moment, perhaps these are a reflection of your request. The three swords cross over each other in the very middle of the card, one is pointing upwards and two are pointing downwards, one on each side. This leads to a feeling of imbalance and perhaps the interference of stray thoughts that need to be put to rest before stability and harmony can reign. |
I did look up your deck because the III of swords sounds a little different then the Original Rider Wait deck I have (couldn’t find an image of it though) . Btw, very interesting looking deck! I assume you know that all three swords blades point down through a heart in ORW deck.
But anyway, the wording “stray thoughts” is a little haunting for me because it is telling me something I already know but haven’t put into words. I have so much in my mind I am having a hard time focusing on what I want and not so much what others might need from me .
January,
Mind, Judgement
The very powerful cards of Judgement and Justice show up this month. Let us look at the mind and Judgement first. It is very easy to fall into the plain of thought where we continuously judge ourselves, over analyzing and pulling apart things we have done in the past or present, things we may do in the future, planning and choosing and getting bogged down in the hypothetical rather than actually doing. This card often shows up in a reading when it is time to reassess the situation you are in and to look at the whole of your achievements with a critical eye. Learn to accept and then choose what is good and right and keep, and that which is not let go and allow to fade into a memory.
Body, Justice
Justice is very closely linked to Judgment and the two are often confused. This placement talks about the body, the fairness and simple kindness with which we treat ourselves. Be fair and caring and kind to yourself, allow yourself enough time, enough rest and good food and nourishment. Always helping others means that often we come second and can be a bit forgotten, make enough time to do youself justice.
Spirit, 8 of Batons
This card is all about rushing, speeding and firing off on all cylinders pehaps without checking the direction we are headed in is the right one for us. If the spirit is willing then that is one of the most important steps and this card implies that there is some impatient in things of a spiritual nature. Perhaps it is a development issue, perhaps you want to move on and find yourself moving too slowly for your liking. The eight batrons are split, two pointing in each direction, and they are mixed up where they all cross in the middle. If the batons were all turned and headed in the same direction then the progression would be much faster, but they are all over the place. perhaps they are suggesting that you should choose the direction you want to go in then gather all your batons up and head in that one direction rather than spreading them thinly around.
Overall - January seems to be a month of decisions and planning, once those choices have been made then full steam ahead.
|
Interesting spread btw! I know January is the month of reflection on the past and now going into the future. That started last month and I have been working towards a lot of changes in my spiritual path and personal life which I have ignore for years now to help others. Forgetting what makes me happy too. I am moving too slowly for the spiritual path (that I know too well). I even started to eat a little better lately. I started planning last month and for January I will continue that and try to get my goals in focus.
February,
Mind, The World
This is a card of inspiration. Two naked children hold up a globe with a beautiful image of a castle on it, their dream. These children have nothing to hide, they are innocent and carefree. For February this card is showing you a lovely joyous influence. The world is there for the taking. Once the decisions of a hard January have been made you can open your mind and perhaps set your sights even higher. Open your mind to the possibilities that surround you, see with new eyes what possiblities are around you and grasp the opportunity to make the change you have decided on.
Body, 10 of Chalices
These beautiful ornate chalices are in three rows, all standing upright filled to the brim, except one, one that is laid down on its side as if it is the linkpin, linking the three rows together. This is a card that is full of promise, our body cannot survive without a mind and spirit and this card is letting us know that we need all three to be functioning completey as one, to reach our potential. The influence of this card is reminding us to take care of ourselves and then we will have the strength and stamina and will to suceed.
Spirit, Queen of Chalices
The Queen of Chalices is in a strong position here. The lady that rules our emotions and feelings is influencing our sprit in the month of February. How appropriate considering that Valentines Day is February 14th. The month may be a very emotional one for you, your inner senses filled with love and joy and harmony. With the strength of the Queen your spirit will have the ability to soar free and make the best use of this extra energy.
Overall - February is governed by the suit of Chalices, the suit of love and emotions and feelings., which should make for a very pleasant and enjoyable time for you.
The world at my feet! My goal is that I will be in such a state after all my work in December going into January NOW. Me coming back to this forum on a semi regular bases is just one way I am working towards my spiritual path. I have even started to talk to someone about dating maybe by February that will turn into something too. Let see if I can achieve January to make it to what I want in February.
March,
Mind, Knight of Pentacles
The Knight is full of energy and is concerned with matters that the suit of Pentacles is linked with, finances, material goods and to a certain extent riches and money. The obvious intimation here is to watch the spending during this month, but I feel that as Knights are the court card that are most linked to movement and dynamice energy that this card might be more about thinking of a holiday or travel and the expenses associated with those. Remembner that a rest is as good as a change and that a holiday may sometimes just be a day off from work, walking in the park or visting friends.
Body, The Chariot
The chariot is pulled by two white horses and The Pope is the driver. A fiercely strict ruler, The Pope has no trouble controlling the horses even though they are pulling strongly. The analogy formed here is the head ruling the heart, perhaps just a little more exercise is needed to calm the agitated horses, but The Pope instead keep them in check standing still, making them concentrate on the work they must do so that they are unable to unleash any excess energy that may be needed for the journey ahead of them. The influence of The Chariot in this position may be indicating the duel between exercise and completing a job, perhaps a frustrating choice, work or play, taking a much needed break from a hard task or carrying on till it is completed.
Spirit, 6 of Pentacles
This cards is balanced and calm. Two rows of three pentacles built up high rather than the more firm foundation of three columns and two rows high. This energty is more about striving for the heights than it is for keeping safe. The Spirit is on the move climbing towards it's next goal, developing and changing. You may notice that you feel there is something missing and cannot place what it is exactly. Use the energy of The Chariot and the Knight of Pentacles to have a change of scenery and tae time to figure out what your feelings are telling you. Is there an underlying influence here that you may not be as satisfied as you might be if you changed things a little? Allow the spirit to freely give what it needs so that it may receive what it desires in return.
I know March will be a time of change, I can see that already. Sometimes I go back to work in January from my layoff but this time it wouldn’t shock me if I don’t go back at all because the work just won’t be there to bring me back. March will be the month if I don’t go back to make the big decision to move on after 12 years of working with the company to a new job, actually make that decision sooner before March which is about the time my unemployment will run out.
Overall - March is a month that may be quite exciting with strong energies that lead towards new and welcome movement.
Review - Your reading offered some insights into the major influences that may show themselves during the first three months of this year. There were some interesting changes to the three main headings, Mind, Body and Spirit. The Mind appears to grow in hope and inspiration over the months, the Body appears to become fitter and more in control, the Spirit clams and becomes more dedicated and focused.
no a fan of change in jobs and relationships but yeah from your reading i see the changes and how they can happen if i choose to keep following my path until March.
I used one of my favourite decks, The Visconti-Sforza, a deck that is very old and talks in a way that is very basic, using the olde unadorned images. I hope you enjoyed the reading. Please let me know your thoughts.
Happy New Year!
thank you so much for your reading. it is going to help me keep focused on my journey for the next few months. actually you have now become apart of that journey because it will become a tool to keep me focused on my path. it is amazing how little things like doing a reading can become apart of the path that the cards are seeing in the first place.
Thank-you
I am a great fan of the RWS and it is interesting the basic differences between that deck, first published in December 1909, and the Visconti Sforza which was printed in 1450. You mention the 3 of Swords in particular, it is as I said
It's like the middle sword is trying to split the other two, this is a very similar decks picture, see what I mean?
And george it is an honour to be a tiny part of your new year
