Hi VG,
I have done your lay of cards. One matter we need to remeber is that this reading revolves around the ten of Swords as a main influence in your life at this stage. In this sense, the entire reading has a knotted point of view and it is vitally important to combine both readings to get to sensible result. Therefore it would be futile to do notes in a hurry.
The Significator.
This is a card the reader may want to use to ground the Querent, or understand it as a pivot; all the cards refer to a central point or person.
This card give indications to the querant, physical, psychological or may also bring into focus the current situation.
In your reading, I used the Knights, relating to your age, but also to the energy they bring along. This is not a haphazard choice, the four knights are face down and then with guidance and energy-flow from my hands, one card is selected.
Ten of Swords (Reversed)
Comparative to The Tower.
Card Description.
A prostrate figure lying face down in a puddle of blood with ten swords driven into his back. Black skies and dark clouds overhead, the sun rising over this deadly scene.
Meaning: “Sorrow, tears, affliction”.
Apart from the Nine of Swords, the Ten also predicts calamities, sorrow, affliction and total loss. Nine predicts death, without any repose. The difference in the ten, is a remote glimmer of hope, however don’t even count on it. This card predicts pain, failure and desolation... at the best this card merely nullifies good luck; at the worst it intensifies the misfortunes predicted by other unfavorable cards. Even friendships or other close relationships will be temporary, or insufficient to help you overcome this unhappy ending to your plans and schemes. Any gains will be brief ones. What is worse, this disastrous ending may undermine your confidence in yourself from now on. You will have to work hard to prevent that from happening to you.
Upright: Pain, failure and desolation. Misfortunes intensified.
It is extremely difficult for anyone to really give advice if you have reached this point. This card is the concentration of all that which may go wrong. The fact that we see a sunrise means that you can do something about it, but, it will take time, and very hard work to get all of these things sorted out and hopefully return to some state of normality. The period you are in or may enter will be a life changing experience. If you maintain your inner strength, draw on all your resources, you will make it through. Expect to feel exhausted and defeated. You need to keep focus and not be swayed by circumstances, do whatever you can to heal yourself and keep this experience as a point of reference to protect yourself in future. Even friendships, relationships and partnerships will be unstable and insecure.
Reversed: Insignificant progress and temporary success. Even in this situation, this card is still not favorable. Although not as bad, profits, gain and progress will be insignificant. Expect small advances in your personal relationships but not really long lasting
VG, I added the full interpretation of Ten of Swords, for me it is important that you see the complete impact off this card in a reading, It’s really nasty and not nice to work or deal with. However, I made the reversed in bold, which was the orientation of this card in your previous reading as outcome.
Card Description.
Card 1:
Present influences,
General atmosphere, state of mind, people & other influences now at work.
One can be related to the Magician, it signifies the root force, origin, first spark. In essence, that which started and maintains this reading and how the cards are influenced.[/b]
Hermit (Reversed)
Deception, lies, misinformation. Corruption, concealment. Misguided ideals. Disguise or even fraud.
As Arcanum eight depicts Justice in it’s pure form, Arcanum Nine is a search for truth in it’s pure form, uncorrupted by ideologies, preferences, or needs. If this card represents you, then you are going through or are about to go through, a period of self-examination. This will be a time when you re-evaluate your life, your associations, and your goals.
Card 2:
Obstacles and blockages,
In representing obstacles, this card indicates people or any forces at work influencing the Querants present circumstances or blockages existing about which the querent may not be aware off.
The twos are related to the High Priestess. As such they indicate duality but, more importantly, they indicate instinctual knowledge. Aces are undirected energy; the twos are, in a sense, the knowledge of what the direction for that energy should take.
Three of Wands (Upright)
This card is a card of success brought on by acting upon the opportunities presented to you, the world is opening up to even more exciting opportunities for you to explore. It shows that the strength and determination to succeed, is in your grasp. You made your dream a reality, although it is now starting to bring your success, much work is still needed to achieve your goal. This card also hints at movement (in your career, business), or to a new location. It also indicates that feeling of pride or even power.
Upright:
New opportunities, strength and determination, enterprise and commerce. Maturity and strength. Good business venture.
You had the opportunity to establish a firm basis for your endeavors and have rightly done so, with a dignified approach, wisdom and clarity of mind, you will gain success. This card indicates cooperation and maturity as the key to your success; in general your financial endeavors are protected. You may also receive advice from a business associate or advisor. Whatever obstacles was introduced by previous cards may be overcome by you. You should not act impulsively; you know what to do. Use your experience and common knowledge.
With this card, it is important to remember that the card itself may be very good, but not productive of good in this context, I will get to this one in my notes and how we must distinguish the way in which it will operate for you at this time. The positioning of the card itself is the container to your thought process, your personal blockage or perhaps an outside influence holding you back in a sense. But, let us not jump to early conclusions and perhaps dive in at the end with rocky outcrops!
Card 3:
This crowns you.
It describes your goals in this matter, and if it will be achieved at this time. This card explains your ideal aim, what you hope to accomplish in this situation and or the best that you can make happen under the circumstances—whether or not it is what you want. It also represents the immediate future, in that which the card describes is still to come.
Ruling over the threes is the Empress, of course, whose card is all about creation. The child in the womb, the seed in the ground. So, with the twos, a choice has been made about what use to put this passion, emotion, brainpower, craft. Now we get the first results of that decision, the initial offspring[/b]
Devil (Upright)
The allegory here is not the independent will, but of an intelligence that works to destroy for the sake of upsetting the divine balance. His purpose is to defeat Divine Law and return the world to a state of chaos.
The ancients taught that there is an order to the universe, within which all living beings could find their own best destiny. Divine Law seeks to establish and maintain that order. The Devil works to upset and undermine it. He may operate as a temper, or he may command fear, but either way his purpose is to offer irresistible inducements to stray from the true path.
The true path as taught by the Tarot, is to become as close to the Divine as possible. At this stage of your spiritual development you have become adept enough to be a valuable servant for the forces of evil. This is the point at which you can choose either to continue toward your ultimate goal, or take the left-hand path, which ends here. The inducements are especially tempting to you at this time. You’ve just been forced to wait for fulfillment of your purpose(s) (Temperance). The Devil seems to offer a way to achieve those purposes without any more waiting, or any further work.
The power offered is tremendous, but the price demanded is even greater. Never forget that you can achieve yout goals without the Devil’s help. In fact, the only reason he’s interested in you is because your potential exceeds anything he can hope to achieve—unless he can stop you.
You are not being offered an easier way out. The significance of the chained figures teaches that what you must surrender to take the power The Devil has to offer, is your own free will.
Card 4:
This is beneath you.
It describes the foundation under discussion; a specific event or different things happening in the immediate past which, because of their influence on you, are the reason, or direct cause of the situation you find yourself in. This card signifies, that which has happened to you and how it changed you. This card also signifies what you can do, to help you reach your final aim or goal.
Fours are ruled by the Emperor. Like both the Emperor and his throne they signify a kind of stability, a holding pattern if you will. For a moment, everything is still, solid, rooted, established. This can be positive, a solid foundation, or negative, something that refuses to budge or change.
Ace of Swords (Upright)
This card stands for triumph, prosperity, conquest, fertility. Intellectual fulfillment. The birth of a new idea or a new Endeavour. Tremendous power now available, or used. May also indicate the birth of a child.
You have really pushed and shoved hard, used your force of will and influence to get to where you are now, you made sure that you employed your common sense to determine, not only your, but also other peoples lives in a positive way. You have the edge and conviction to use your new found power in a righteous way. Now is the best time also to start that new idea you are or were pondering.
The reader must put the card meanings in context with the spread regarding past, present and future!!
Card 5:
This is behind you.
This gives the influence or set of circumstances that is busy happening now and will soon end; the situation which has just passed or is now in passing. In effect, events or circumstances in your past, as shown in the first few cards, created a general personal environment in which you were operating. This environment is now busy changing, either because you took steps to change it, or because some influence is forcing a change. This card is the current from which the Querent is passing away, and it may be the past of the matter. When trying to read the Fives think of the Hierophant. The Hierophant represents a teacher, counselor, or priest, someone who advises people when they're in trouble. Likewise, the Fives are unique cards in that each one seems to pose both a problem and an answer. After four fairly smooth cards of growth and development, the fives represent the fly in the ointment. Instability; the changes that make one humble and allow for growth. Of the question asked of the Hierophant by a troubled supplicant, the problem is real world. The answer, however, appropriate to the Hierophant, is usually spiritual or at least pragmatic. Understand that all Fives temper the Querent - you go through the fire, the low points, the hard times, in order to come out stronger[/b]
Page of Cups (Upright)
An intelligent, artistic and sensitive young person, one who is closely connected or related to you, either your son or daughter or a younger sibling. It can also be a childhood sweetheart or long-time friend. He or she will perform an important service to you. Expect good news, a message or an arrival of someone or something. There is also the possibility of a birth of a child or new idea or enterprise.
Card 6:
This is before you.
This card describes the future influence or set of circumstances you can expect; the change in personal environment that either should (if you are advised what to do) or will (if you go with the flow) take place. The past described by card 5 is giving way to the new situation as a result to the actions you have taken. If the situation in card 5 has been described exactly and a specific timeframe can be added to it, card 5 and 6 can act as timing factor, as that which is described in card 5 timed until now, card 6 can then be applied adding the same time period but into the future. In general readings the timeframe is also general and can be from a few days to 12 months. When asking a specific question, you can include a time period of say within the next two months etc. It is the current coming into action and will operate in the specific matter.
Sixes are balance and harmony, especially after the upsets of the fives. These cards predict a solution, and not just any solution; there will be an exchange, a give and take that results in a new equilibrium. It may not last, but for that moment, everything is stable. With this card, there is an almost "Ah-HA!" of recognition, of understanding in the solution, and more than a little awe at the symmetry achieved by it.
Wheel of Fortune (Upright)
We are all bound to the Wheel of Fortune. Some of us are fighting our way upward while others fall by the wayside. Some sit on top of the heap, apparently unaffected by the vagaries of fortune. But the wheel is turning for everyone, whether or not we are aware of it. What results for everyone is pure chance, and has nothing to do with individual worth, or lack of it. The message here is in direct contrast to Justice. In both cards, each individual is treated with strict impartiality. In Justice, however, the result is fair; you get what you deserve. In fortune you get what happens to come, no matter what you deserve. What’s worse, the forces controlling your life don’t consider you, or anyone else, at all; they don’t even see you. In effect you become like the objects on the jugglers table, tossed about at random. In fact you are even less than that, for at least the juggler watches what he’s working with, even if he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. The Wheel of Fortune teaches us that there are things in life that just happen, and over which not you, and not even blind fate has control. You must be aware that the wheel is constantly turning, and that your life is being affected by it. If you want success, you have to fight to take control of the uncontrollable; to force fate to give you what you choose, whether or not you deserve it.
The secret of good fortune is to learn to use your psychic, or inner powers, to control your fate, rather than allowing yourself to be shifted around by any wind that blows. Blind fortune has no interest in who wins or who loses; she simply turns the wheel at random. If you want to come out at the top, you have to learn to care enough about what happens to you to take control of the Wheel of Fortune.
Upright
Good luck, destiny, fortune. Success, an unexpected turn of events. Promotion or elevation. Victory or obstacles overcome by good fortune.
I want to draw your attention to this card particularly. It was also a predominating card in your first reading, together with the other Pentacle cards in that reading and some of the Wands Cards in this reading,we may have a fortunate development, but let us also work with this one in my notes.
Card 7:
This is you.
This card represents you. In general it puts you in perspective in terms of the circumstances of the reading. It shows your stance or attitude towards yourself or towards your situation. It also reveals how you are likely to behave or react in this situation. Therefore this card signifies the Querent’s self, his attitude to the matter.
Sevens relate to the Chariot, a card about finding and maintaining complete control and mastery over wild or opposing forces
The Star (Reversed)
Frustration, impotence, theft. Unfulfilled expectations, disappointments, abandonment. Arrogance leading to losses instead of gains.
Card 8:
This is your house.
This card represents your environment, or surroundings, in this situation; that which is going on around you at this time. It shows your effect on people especially those close to you, or closely involved with you, it also shows your general effect on events. More importantly, it shows what kind of effect, other people or events, has on you, what they are doing and how they are reacting and what their intentions are regarding a situation or in these circumstances. Therefore it signifies your house, your environment in the affair—the influence, people and events around you.
We relate the Eights to Strength. Eights are about moving, taking action, as Strength is a card of courage and transformation. It's very easy to let things stay as they are inside yourself or without (though, as the Eights warn, it's easy but damaging). It is much harder to gather up the willpower and mental strength to make a real change. A scary change. Like the Strength card, it is scary to approach that lion, but you can alter the relationship you have with it
Knight of Pentacles (Upright)
As all the Knights, the Knight of Pentacles exhibits the same qualities as his symbolic parents. This card also includes elements of moving (Air), either arrival or departure or travel. This is a less mature image of the King and Queen; he has their potential, but lacks their experience. He may still be a nice person, but is not dependable, and sometimes a disappointment to himself and others close to him. He may be impatient at times, and less willing to assume his responsibilities. Whether this is personal trait, or one he will eventually outgrow, depends on other cards in the reading. If this card does not represent a person, then you are being told that you could be more than you are if you’d simply settle down and work at it. This card also includes investment, searching for a new career or means of income.
Card 9:
This is your hopes and fears;
This card reveals your inner thoughts about a situation; it shows how you feel about people, events and circumstances surrounding you at this time including your feelings about yourself and your chances of success or failure.
You need to understand 2 things clearly.
First. The card describes how you feel, not what has happened, is happening or will happen. Not everyone’s emotional perspective is always right. Your reaction may be reasonable given the current set of circumstances, but it could also be entirely wrong!!(Not being able to see the forest from the trees).
Second. This card still affects the final outcome, whether your emotional perspective is correct or wrong. As an example, if you have to take action, but is afraid to, how positive or successful the card predicts, a big possibility you will still fail, because you can’t make the change or move
Nine is a card of completion. Like the Hermit, who connects to the nines, it is a card where something is finished and the person in turn steps back to look on what he's done, earned, or gained. Nines are among the most powerful cards, usually granting the Querent what it is they, like the Hermit, are seeking
Strength (Upright)
Force of will, moral strength. Personal vitality. Courage, triumph. Fortitude, determination, energy, defiance. Ability to endure hardship. Success.
You are facing a test of your endurance. If your will is stronger than whatever opponent you battle, you will survive and succeed. If not, your dreams end here. Fortitude is your key to victory; do not despair. If this card represents you, then you are facing a test of your own determination and will. The battle will not be an easy one, but you can win if you make up your mind to see this through. You will lose only if you choose to surrender.
Card 10:
Final outcome.
This is the result. It reveals what will happen or is going to happen; the culmination which will result from the influences shown by all the other cards in the reading. If this card is a Minor Arcana Court Card, it represents a person, who holds the key to the realization of all things predicted.
This is then what will come.
You need to remember one thing, all the previous cards put together creates this outcome, should you not follow the advice, and your final outcome will change.
Consider that life exist around choices you make, sometimes it’s easier to make the correct choice if you know the secrets of the Tarot, so is it also important to remember the choice you make should fit what you want!!! After all you have to live with your mistakes or successes.
As the aces were the pure, elemental spark of the suit, the tens are the element of the suit complete. Not as in the nines, which are physical completion, but in a transcendent fashion. It is the ultimate good or bad of that element. In this card we see attainment as opposed to completion in card 9.
Five of Wands (Reversed)
Stiff opposition, frustration and litigation.
In entering unmarked territory, you haven’t got the experience to fight your opposition. You will find it almost impossible to watch your back and make any progress. You will gain nothing by your ways of trying to impress other people. Remember they have already had their time, survived the battle and are now well-established. In this sense the fight is not fair. There are frustrations because you can’t reach your goals, but making hasty decisions will only get you into an unfortunate position with litigation and problems following.
Card 11
Four of Cups (Upright)
Stagnation, displeasure, dissatisfaction. Unwarranted suspicions. Weariness with life. Boredom.
There are times when everything matures; this is normally the time after the excitement in a new relationship, new endeavor or partnership. Not knowingly everybody enters this phase and suddenly comes to the realization; things around me are not as they were. In effect even you matured into the established success in your business or personal relationships. Inevitably you now consider this as stagnation and feel a sense of boredom. You are looking for something to get the adrenalin flowing again. You are actually looking for something fresh and it is in the offing. Because you grew into the success around you, it is impossible for you to recognize the good in your life, in fact you are disappointed with what you’ve achieved. Consider ways to rejuvenate your own situation, bring that initial spark back and develop your relationship or future. You need to re-evaluate your life and realize that you can create the better offer, with that which you have. In fact you are able to achieve even greater things.
Three Cards of advice; These cards do not form part of the reading, but relies on the entire reading and only depart advice.
Card 1
Five of Cups (Reversed)
Renewal, new alliances. The return of a lost one. Courage to overcome difficulties.
Although you may have a feeling of sadness, you can expect things to get better. if you have unwavering love for someone that suddenly walked away or isolated themselves from you. Don’t despair, that which was lost will return, either the person or the sensation of belonging, if you are in a relationship already, and the road is rocky, expect renewal. A new relationship might be in waiting. It is also now that you have the courage and tenacity to overcome any obstacle coming your way. The way forward will be better but not without some problems.
Card 2
Two of Swords (Upright)
Truce, stalemate, reserved trust.
You have or might enter a business or personal relationship in which both parties are working together to achieve a mutual goal. The deal is that, both of you don’t really trust each other enough. You can see this relationship based on a game of chess, by which every move must be well considered and done to only ensure balance. Although you may work together in harmony, always check your back. Make sure that whatever you do, you strengthen your position. Be sure this is what the other partner is doing. You are able to balance the situation using your intellect and experience.
Card 3
Three of Pentacles (Reversed)
Delays in recognition and rewards, lack of skill, impatience, pettiness. Sloppiness and gain before craft.
You have tackled a project beyond your capabilities; this is not only in your business but also in your personal relationships. You touch and let go to the point where people no longer trust your word as it lacks that pure commitment and dedication. In this you are so preoccupied with pettiness that it actually clouds your ultimate goal. You need to acquire the needed skill and practical ability to complete what you have started. Focus your mind on that which you have, go back to the drawing board, design your future and don’t let your impatience get in your way.
NOTES AND CONCLUSION
I haven’t added notes at all, please give me some time to ponder and draw both your readings into one unit. I just want to you know that I am busy with it.
Blessed be.
