I do not know your life experiences or even the culture you come from, but I am getting the feeling that this puritanical, maternal and should I say almost virginal relationship you have with this gentleman, whereby if you got closer to him, you might feel things will not be the same, they may even be spoilt.... could it be that it is that very feeling (the not having it all) draws you so potently towards this person?
I am trying hard not to use psychology here, but go by what I am getting from the cards and hence use my intuition. I am sorry, I do not know anything about karma, past lives and if you were expecting such spiritual answers, I am sorry to have let you down.

I meant to say Nine of Cups reversed and not Ten of Cups.

My interpreation was based on the Nine of Cups (R) and not the Ten of Cups. I felt I needed to make this correction when I went back and re-read the reading.
Sorry if it caused any confusion.
