Hi,

I read the guidelines but I'm not sure if my question was specifically answered.

In future, I would like to offer readings but I don't always want to exchange - just feedback.

Is that OK? Or do I have to wait until someone requests a reading or is willing to exchange a reading in return?

Basically I just want to know if it is OK to offer readings for feedback only.

Hope I make sense.

Thanks.

Hi Ambrosia..
I believe that if you are a reader you are more than welcome to reply to a reading request, there may be some changes to this system in the future..
BUT.. to my knowledge the way it works is that you may respond to a request to an unanswered post. If the request has already been fulfilled then that one is done and it stands against site policy to add another reading to that request. ( this may change, I dont know what the updated policy might bring )

we dont have a standard feedback system, only if someone come back and replies.. this doesn't always happen, being a free site some posters are long gone doing the reading hopping thing, other just think we are robots or something and dont consider it good manners to respond.

Its not recommended that you encourage private box readings, although this seems largely ignored. personally from my opinion, its not something you want to encourage, theses requests can be a huge drain.

For Tarot readers I believe that it is asked that the reader introduce themselves and say what cards they are reading from ( what deck, is something I hope that come up for discussion later, IMO this does not allow for intuitive reading without being questioned or called out as wrong as per the readers interpretation.. but thats a debate for another topic )

anyways, in short go for it. .. keep site pollicy in mind, no health readings, and no pregnancy.. general reading policies also do not encourage reading for someone that is best refereed to a mental health professional, ( though I dont think this is specified on this site )
I refer suicide threats here http://www.befrienders.org/ ( its not good for either you or the seeker to go into a reading in that case )

I hope this helps..

Thanks.

What I mean is, can I open a new thread and "offer" readings there, in that thread, (not by PM) rather than waiting for someone to ask for a reading?

I imagine most members are in the northern hemisphere (I could be wrong) and when asking for a reading I would probably be asleep and not be able to respond as quickly as others.

I would like to offer readings without having to wait for someone with a specific request to come along.
I have not seen any threads so far where readings are offered, only requested. Just a bit confused.

Hope that makes sense.

Hello Ambrosia

Ususally  people give readings if they connect with the seeker or the request. I believe StormGirl has already explained the way this site operates..

So, there is no need for you to open up a thread offering you readings. The next time you see a reading request, you can respond to it, although I believe it is best that you say you are going to respond to it before anyone else jumps in and gives a reading. This is in order that your efforts are not wasted, only to find out that a reading has already been given.
Simultaneous readings on the same request and topic are not allowed or encouraged. Contra readings against one that has already been given is not seen to be ethical and are not allowed. If you disagree with a reading after it has been given, again, ethically, it is not allowed to comment. What's done is done.

To enter into private exchange with a seeker and discuss with them a reading already given by someone else is, am sure you understand,  also noth ethical.

It has been the custom on this site to state what deck and spread you are using. If not the name of the spread, but the name of each placement. If you are not using a spread as such and you are in the habit of just picking the cards, then by all means there is nothing wrong with that. I am not a lover of spreads, but some spreads do serve a particular purpose too.

Stating the name of the deck and each card picked is beneficial for those who have an interest in learning the tarot but are in the early stages and it is in a way guidance to them as to which cards were picked and their interpreation and so on. It may not be intuitive at times, but it helps the querent 'see' what we are talking about rather just naming the cards and expect that the querent will 'see through' what we see through, if you see what I mean.

Anyhow, welcome to Mystic Board and have a great time!

Thanks Cedars.

So I can't offer readings for feedback, but I can offer if I want to exchange for another reading? Otherwise I can respond to a reading request?

Just making sure I've got this right.
