I was wondering what it would look like if I create a deck, virtually a copy of RW, making use of the BATIK artform?

what is BATIC artform, and a copy of RW?

Batik is an ancient art form specifically in Java. It is done with a fine "pen-like" device, which has a bowl of wax on it. The areas not being tainted or dyed is covered. Then the cloth is wrinkled for the wax to form small cracks and dipped into the dye, each color on it's own. This produces a cloth with fine lines of differing color, however your color used for the specific area is complete, as that area is not sealed with wax. The wax is then removed with solvent and then the next color is done. When doing a color, the entire batik will be sealed, save for the area to be colored.

You would start with the lightest color to your darkest color, eg: black or purple, depending from which region the batik is originated. Finally if you want to include gold, you would use gold-leaf or dust, but nowadays gold paint is used.

It is extremely tedious as each color has to dry, the wax applied again and the next to be done. However it's really beautiful. So when you design the painting, you have to separate each color even if it's one mm thick.

Although I'm artistic, I'm no artist. To design a new deck is just not my cup of tea at this stage. I will rather work with the RW as the symbolism is easily followed throughout the Deck. Where yellow is, gold will be added as needed, where blue is a blend of silver and blue will be used, so on! But this is a project on it's own and I wonder if I will have the time to do it. Otherwise, I will go to Java, collect a Batik artist and bring that person here. Then if the person is Muslim, it will be a problem as they are not allowed to paint people or animals!

So, let me see if I will get to that?

If I could make a deck I would love to make a Lenormand deck
Lenormand are numberd 1 to 36, ie 2 is the Clover 26 is the Book
3 is ship but I wouldn't know how to go about it.

Have a look at the Tarottchi Siciliano, you will also find the ship and other cards. I discussed some of them, far ago.

Doing a deck. Take the image, put it in your mind, the first you get is what you paint. Don't think too much about it, just do it.
