Hi,

I cast the cards twice in the spread I always used, the Celtic Cross, but both times There were too many reversed cards. I reverted to a spread I seldom use, which is the Five Card “Situation, Known and unknown” spread.

I present my querants with the description and my interpretation of the cards, then move on to make notes and conclude the reading.

1) Situation:
Wheel of Fortune Upright.
A wheel turning clockwise with rising/falling figures or beasts on it. Waite also includes a good many Hebrew letters and alchemical symbols. Often there is a sphinx perched atop the wheel.
Card Meaning.
Chance, blind fate, a situation over which you have no control.
We are all bound to the Wheel of Fortune. Some of us are fighting our way upward while others fall by the wayside. Some sit on top of the heap, apparently unaffected by the vagaries of fortune. But the wheel is turning for everyone, whether or not we are aware of it. What results for everyone is pure chance, and has nothing to do with individual worth, or lack of it. The message here is in direct contrast to Justice. In both cards, each individual is treated with strict impartiality. In Justice, however, the result is fair; you get what you deserve. In fortune you get what happens to come, no matter what you deserve. What’s worse, the forces controlling your life don’t consider you, or anyone else, at all; they don’t even see you. In effect you become like the objects on the jugglers table, tossed about at random. In fact you are even less than that, for at least the juggler watches what he’s working with, even if he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. The Wheel of Fortune teaches us that there are things in life that just happen, and over which not you, and not even blind fate has control. You must be aware that the wheel is constantly turning, and that your life is being affected by it. If you want success, you have to fight to take control of the uncontrollable; to force fate to give you what you choose, whether or not you deserve it.
The secret of good fortune is to learn to use your psychic, or inner powers, to control your fate, rather than allowing yourself to be shifted around by any wind that blows. Blind fortune has no interest in who wins or who loses; she simply turns the wheel at random.  If you want to come out at the top, you have to learn to care enough about what happens to you to take control of the Wheel of Fortune.
Upright
Good luck, destiny, fortune. Success, an unexpected turn of events. Promotion or elevation. Victory or obstacles overcome by good fortune.

(2) What you do know:
Two of Pentacles (Reversed).
Card Description.
A person holding a pentacle in each hand doing a balancing act, it can also be seen as an act of juggling. The reversed figure eight lying on its side connecting and enveloping the two Pentacles. In the background are two ships passing.

Meaning: “Balance/duality”

This card signifies gaiety and recreation. But, in new projects or planned projects, predicts some difficulty to establish financial security and stability. It explains how you would need to manage the finances. Clearly with preponderance and careful planning. You may need to play one project of against the other, or invest most of your resources and then struggle to keep the wolves from the door. This card also indicate some written instruction or messages and news, likely legal. These are likely to be obstacles, trouble and agitation.

Reversed:
Forced enjoyment, lack of financial stability. Clumsy financial management. Bad news and written messages (legal notices). Trouble, doubt and worries.

Your financial planning and implementation, lacks the proper balance. The troubles ahead are not calculated risks. You put yourself in such a vulnerable position that you may start receiving legal notices and may expect legal action against you. The resources you have, are insufficient to be able to finance and maintain the project you are in or are planning. Your ability to handle more than one thing at a time is doubtful and most probably ill-conceived.  Find your balance and maintain your status quo, rather than losing more than you should.

3) What you dont know:
Five of Wands (Reversed).
Card Description.
On a beach are five young men with Wands, engaged in a training session or mock fight.

Meaning: “A test of skill”
The five of Wands denotes a time of uncertainty. The testing of your skill, abilities and determination. During this time it seems as if everything you do is an uphill battle, it’s a time in which obstacles needs to be overcome to achieve anything worthwhile. The card also symbolizes the fight for wealth and opulence. Your riches and gains will not fall into your lap, you need to work hard and fight your opposition to attain it.

Reversed:
Stiff opposition, frustration and litigation.
In entering unmarked territory, you haven’t got the experience to fight your opposition. You will find it almost impossible to watch your back and make any progress. You will gain nothing by your ways of trying to impress other people. Remember they have already had their time, survived the battle and are now well-established. In this sense the fight is not fair. There are frustrations because you can’t reach your goals, but making hasty decisions will only get you into an unfortunate position with litigation and problems following.

4) What you could do (Advice):
Card description.
A Single Pentacle in a fertile garden with a path leading thru an archway and in the background, mountains.                                                                                                                                    Meaning: “ Abundance, Riches!!
This card is indicative to fertility and financial success, sighted also at a new enterprise which you started or soon will. The beginning here then, is that of material wealth, riches and abundance. This is a card of success whereby the success will most likely be measured in material wealth and stability. This card dictates success no matter what the surrounding cards indicate.
Reversed:
A small advance in business dealings, should you have great success, it would bring you unhappiness in personal relationships. False hope, clouded joy, fulfillment delayed, false heart, unfaithfulness, false love, change, altercation, sterility.
Although this card is a card of success whether positive or negative, when reversed and surrounded by negative cards, you will still have financial gains but at the cost of your personal relationships. In short, you would have to spend most of your time keeping your finances in check, in effect you will be grasping at straws and the personal relationships you enter into may be premature.
That promise of riches has suddenly grounded to a halt and may cause delays in your success, consider a change inevitable and probably for the worst. It would also be advisable for you to consult with people specializing on investments- and even so, investigate the matter thoroughly.

5) Outcome:
Card Description.
A prostrate figure lying face down in a puddle of blood with ten swords driven into his back. Black skies and dark clouds overhead, the sun rising over this deadly scene.

Meaning: “Sorrow, tears, affliction”.
Apart from the Nine of Swords, the Ten also predicts calamities, sorrow, affliction and total loss. Nine predicts death, without any repose. The difference in the ten, is a remote glimmer of hope, however don’t even count on it. This card predicts pain, failure and desolation... at the best this card merely nullifies good luck; at the worst it intensifies the misfortunes predicted by other unfavorable cards. Even friendships or other close relationships will be temporary, or insufficient to help you overcome this unhappy ending to your plans and schemes. Any gains will be brief ones. What is worse, this disastrous ending may undermine your confidence in yourself from now on. You will have to work hard to prevent that from happening to you.

Reversed:
Insignificant progress and temporary success.
Even in this situation, this card is still not favorable. Although not as bad, profits, gain and progress will be insignificant. Expect small advances in your personal relationships but not really long lasting.

Your reading is dominated with “money” the gain or the lack there-off. As I deduct, we can safely say that card one indicates a better move for your husband, in terms of financial rewards, but for you, it may not be a good move at this time or as far as your goals are concerned.

CONCLUSION.

Looking at your spread, we count 4 out of five to do with money and opportunities, in the Five of Wands. One single Swords card, which is a nasty little bugger at the best of times. This is now where we have to see the woods from the trees. The ten of Swords tells you calamities, hard times etc, although it may happen, it can very well be a mindset with which you approach this move. You have made friends, settled in your job, got the family spread all in order, and now a sudden upheaval and a move which I assume is a far distance, from what you have now.

You are most probably thinking, that things will be hard, that you would have to work harder than before to get to the spot you have now? And, it would be. Your relationship with your husband is not going to disintegrate, but you may have more disagreements than before, because you feel trapped and frustrated. Yet these times go by and before you know it, you’ve settled again, and all is well.

The feeling of being adrift? Have you and your husband sat down and set goals for your lives together or have each just ignored the other and do as you think it will work for you? What is important is that you and your husband should do a “communal” goal setting, and if it takes a move, then be prepared to jump in and get dirty again! The feeling of satisfaction at the top is far greater than being in a negative mindset?

In the cards we see a strong warning! You need to keep your eye on the finances, both you and your husband. You need to start accumulating some to finance the trip and keep the pot cooking! I would say, at this stage, it would be better for you to maintain your employment, or, stay a teacher, and then, once you have everything in place, consider a change. Give yourself THREE YEARS!! This is the time period which flashed in my mind THREE YEARS.

What you need to remember, it is the woman in the house or “the Queen of the Castle”, to keep everything together in the home. What do we have, the butch husband goes out to gather wood, dump it on the porch, say “ohh I’m so tired” slumps in the nearest seat and settles, meanwhile, madam has been running around, getting everything ready, dragging the wood from the porch to the kitchen, gets the fire burning, tries to cook food on too little wood and then the husband claims, “I KEEP THE POT BOILING”. In this there is a warning that is reflected in the cards! Don’t get too busy and neglect your obligation, “when love goes wrong—everything goes wrong”, please remember that.

On the days that you feel you are really fighting an uphill battle, wherever you are, remember, no-one is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In closing, although you will have opposition, it is you who have the final choice of success or distress. If there are people more advanced than you, so be it! They have been where you are now. One day, you will be in the same position, what is your choice now and what will be the result then?

Blessed be.

Thank you for the reading

It seems to be a reading that has picked up all of my fears and worries about the coming situation and most of what it said brought up are things which I'm concerned about but which, if I'm sensible and stop listening to the worry wort voice in my head, are not really founded in reality.

My husband and I both have a very strict financial plan and have sizable savings put away just in case we both do not immediately get jobs when we travel back. Money is one of my little secret fears that has no grounding in reality as even if things went horribly wrong for us we have more than enough stashed away to support us through at least a year of unemployment...I just refuse to actually spend the money that we worked so hard to save. I am definitely keeping a strict eye on finances though as I do not want to eat into our savings if we can avoid it.

Maintaining my job as a teacher is actually the career path of least uncertainty at the moment or at least for the next year. I have a permanent teaching job to go back to - it's just that they cannot guarantee me employment until the end of the 3 years of leave I took, which will be in 2012. I believe this is the '3 years' that flashed up in your mind. I've been away for two of those years but am coming back a year early and it has caused...ripples. I know I will get a job for sure in a years time, but for 2011 I have to gamble on getting a temp. contract as a teacher or changing jobs and getting a guaranteed position with a different government department. That's the problem, of course. I like being a teacher and do not want to work another job...but if I change jobs I have been told that I will get a position for sure.

Thank you so much for the reading again It has certainly helped me work out a few of the questions which were bothering me.
