Melissa, I am using the Legacy of the Divine Tarot on a 5 card spread called
'The Moon', which I will try to post as well. The Moon in Tarot represents the unconscious, and this is what this spread will tell you about, since you have no specific question. They say it is always good to get to know oneself better, so let's see if you can learn a little through the reading.
While I was shuffling, one card came out from the rest, so I took it to represent you at the present moment. It was
The Chariot, a Major Arcana -Majors can sometimes tell you about the evolution phase you are going through-. It certainly matches your age, more or less.
The Chariot represents will, self assurance, control and success through constant efforts. You know the enemy so prepare to meet it.
While it is great to know just how far you can go through your will alone, it is somewhat exhausting to have things under control at all times. It leaves you little time to relax and just let go.
So tell me, are you afraid of what could happen if you let go of the reins just a little? Do you fear you could lose control of the situation somehow?
Sooner or later, you will need to do just that, so that you realize things won't necessarily go overboard if you relax. Otherwise you will end up feeling very tired and so much control will be worth very little.
1. EAST: this is the key to your spiritual nature and may reveal your natural talents and abilities.
8 of Cups reversed: you are a bit shy sometimes, but at least you know how to find happiness in your daily routines. That can make you a little reluctant to make the most of every chance, since you tend to avoid difficulties or commitments. You also tend to let good things pass you by because you are waiting for some impossible ideal.
So, while your natural gratitude makes for a generally satisfied person, use your Chariot energy to go after any good chance that comes by. Otherwise you may get old while waiting for the perfect opportunity
2. SOUTH: this is what your inner child is learning, what you need to know in order to have faith in yourself and that which you must feed in your growing process.
5 of Coins reversed: your inner child seems to be learning that you need a lot of effort to overcome each obstacle in your path, so is getting used to suffering in silence. Once again, we have your inner shyness trying to keep up with your controlling energy. You get things done through so much effort that your child ends up exhausted.
So here is the lesson this card gives you: you need to change your attitude and use less will power and more imagination when dealing with life; also, when things seem absolute chaos no matter what you do, sometimes the situation will explode on its own and can lead to better things if you just let it.
3. WEST: this is the dream within the dream and can lead you to your true goal in life, so study it closely. Sometimes your vision is just a product of the superficial ego instead of reaching for your highest aspirations.
The Devil: this is a Major Arcana and usually describes a materialistic phase, which we all go through sooner or later. These are the immediate pleasures we can find through eating, drinking, shopping, dancing till we drop, having fun, having sex, etc. Sometimes, after we have had a long period of self indulgence, we get something akin to a hangover, or just feel ashamed for having given in to every temptation in our path. We sometimes feel chained to our constant desires, like we have no alternative or at least cannot see it.
Just remember it is a phase. We all need to let our hair down once in a while -specially when you have been over controlling for a while-. Just try not to keep dangling from one extreme to the other. This is the gift you can get out of this card: learn the advantage of pursuing your goals with passion, use your magnetic attraction and persuasion to attain some of your goals instead of trying to get everything by force. However, I think you are still not ready to pursue your true goals in life. Just try to relax, don't take everything so seriously, not even the 'having fun' part.
4. NORTH: Inner wisdom. This card helps you break any self delusions you may be harboring. If you are seeking answers elsewhere, this card gently pushes you to look toward your inner being.
Page of Coins -or Pentacles-: this card describes a person who tackles each activity with fascination and extreme commitment, for the experience itself rather than the final reward or position it may bring. This person is careful, hard working, a good organizer and manager, honest, kind and learned.
These are all great characteristics to have, but... watch out for exhaustion -remember your shy and tired inner child who never says 'no' but suffers all the same-. Use more imagination and less effort, think of it as play rather than a chore. And don't feel ashamed to relax once in a while without giving in to total dissipation, otherwise you will end up feeling worse.
5. CENTER: if you get to know this inner core, no one will ever be able to deceive you again. Not even yourself.
Page of Wands reversed: you still lack enough maturity to face complexity, so some situations can make you feel unstable and weak, and this is why you don't trust yourself and seek answers elsewhere, although they may be bad news for you.
This is perfectly ok: immaturity is something we all go through and we stay immature in certain aspects of our lives sometimes nearly forever. So accept your lack of experience and take it into account when dealing with new situations. Trust your own judgment or that of someone who knows and loves you well.
Ok, let's have a look at the images in the spread now.
The most striking point is your dual nature, or how your more public, hard working self -
Page of Coins- seems reflected by your inner self -
Page of Wands- who still feels unsure and weak. That semi unconscious feeling of helplessness is driving you to work harder and harder and get everything under control -
The Chariot- and also your deeply ingrained belief that life is hard and that suffering and hardship are to be expected -
5 of Coins reversed-. Maybe someone in your family has repeated that enough times to make you believe it as universal truth, even if things aren't necessarily always like that. Still, that view gives you a humbleness and a capacity to appreciate everyday goods that others tend to take for granted -
8 of Cups reversed-. Or it may be just a common trait in an Earth sign, who are certainly more oriented towards the practical side of life -Coins-.
Finally, such a hard working, goal oriented person, is sure to feel guilty when discovering the more material pleasures available. Since you try to keep everything under tight control, you are afraid you won't be able to stop once you let your guard down. But, even though it may be early for you to discover your true aspirations in life, you are ready to know that passion, pleasure and persuasion can be great tools to aid you in life, as long as you don't overdo it.
Hope that gave you some insight on the position you are now traversing in the path of life. Let's see what is the advice of the cards for the following year:
- Now you have proven to yourself and everybody else your ability to take control, it is time to learn when to loosen up a bit!
- Your greatest asset right now is the ability to appreciate the simple and near things and people in your life: you never underestimate them nor take them for granted. Just remember there are other things out there you could also reach without losing what you already have. Go ahead, don't be shy.
- You need to sooth and comfort your inner child: she doesn't understand why you are driving yourself so hard, but is scared to ask for the rest and play time she -you- needs. So give it to her -to you-. Once she feels better, you may take advantage of a more playful and imaginative approach to problem solving that will take much less effort.
- Don't feel guilty for having fun unless you think it's getting out of permanent control -in which case, there will always be someone to give you a hand-. And remember seduction -not necessarily the sexual kind, but getting on the right side of people- can sometimes be just as efficient as pure effort.
- Keep your passionate, honest and hard working nature. If you have your goals clear in your mind, no one can sidetrack you and you will always be trusted and respected by those around you.
And that is about all. Let me know if this has been useful, even if it wasn't exactly what you were expecting.
Cheers!
