Dear Hope

You have asked two questions and I know following your recent ordeal you would like answers or possible future outlook on these two aspects – love and finance. (Who doesn’t?). It would be best to ask one question per reading, but as I feel I have been with you through the recent events in your life, I will make an exception and look at both situations as briefly or as detailed as they come.

Love/romance:

I tried to connect with your energies on the love and romance level (as well as job/finance), but first let us see the love and romance side…… I see you now in an empty space, so to speak, and I feel you need this space. You are almost standing inside a circle and around you is a wide expanse of space, room to think, or room to sit and do nothing. I feel you are now right where you need to be. I know your question was whether there is love and romance coming to you; at the moment, in the short to medium term future, I see you I in the middle of this circle on your own. The feeling I am getting, Hope, is that you need to be in this state for a while. I feel things will start happening by way of new introductions. I sense there are possibilities outside your current radius where you are in, but not so forthcoming. And I also get the feeling that you want to be on your own, you want to be in this free space of a phase for a while.

I feel I need to tell you: be patient and it will come. I understand after your recent ordeal, you would like to see changes coming into your life, but I still get the feeling that you need this period of non attachment, putting your hair down or even extending your wings. I also get the feeling that you don’t dislike this phase now. Although you would like love and romance to come to you, but I just don’t get the feeling that if anything did come to you now, whether it will be right for you. I feel you need to be ‘reborn’ to rediscover yourself, and once you get into that stage (or even convince yourself that you need to be here) I feel you will really enjoy it.
By these energies around you, I do not see any new romance coming into your life for the immediate future.


Money/Finance.

Coming to the above, if also this involves a job or a new job, I feel the circle inside which you stand in these terms is a smaller one than the love and romance one. By that I mean this situation will probably resolve itself sooner than love and romance. I just feel the perimeter of that circle inside which you are, is buzzing with activity. By no means should you be deterred by my expression being in a ‘smaller circle’. I don’t feel it will take you longer to get out of that circle or what is outside that circle to come to you. I do not know if this is a new job or opportunities for money, but I feel that the commotion outside that circle is within reach to you. I get the feeling that one of these activities is bound to be meant for you.

I am sorry I am talking in geometric circles and perimeters, but these are the images I am getting in my mind. I am sure you can relate to their pictorial or symbolic meaning.

I will do two separate spreads by using my Rider Waite deck.

The fist one relates to possible relationship and what your subconscious mind might be looking for. For this, I took out all the court cards and shuffled them asking the question: What are the qualities that Hope is looking for in a mate? And I got:

The Knight of Cups.

Then I put the court cards back in and shuffled the whole deck asking three further questions:
What does Hope subconsciously want from a relationship?  Ace of Pentacles.
What obstacles does she face? Queen of Swords.
What is the best advice for the querent right now? Four of Wands.

The kind of person that may make you happy is the romantic type, like the Knight of Cups. One who is sensitive and also understands others’ emotions and can be a support. Our knight is the ultimate romantic and he believes in bringing flowers, remembering anniversaries and birth dates and so on. Those are the plus points, but it is worth also looking that our knight can be over sensitive at times, he may over react on emotional issues and may sometimes lose touch with the reality of things. Well, no one is perfect my dear Hope.

Subconsciously, I feel you also want financial security within a relationship. A new beginning whereby you yourself firstly should feel financially secure and the possibilities to explore further areas of investment and progress in your career and possible enterprises.

A female figure in the person of the Queen of Swords may be an obstacle in you finding this mate or partner, if she is not already showing such signs. Her qualities are not of the sentimental type and she may be discouraging you to leave sentimentalities aside and be strong-minded about your current situation. She has not had it easy herself and perhaps that is the reason she has blockages within her own life around relationships. Listen to her, if you like, and judge her possibly by viewing why she is being an obstacle to you.

The best advice for you right now, as it revealed above, is to let your hair down and have fun with friends and family. Your loved ones would like you to be around and take part in activities with social events and family surroundings.

I did another spread for you and you can take this towards whichever side of your life that you wish: Career or anything else.

My Priorities Right Now.

Main Priority: Ace of Cups.
Well, surprise, surprise! Ok, it is no secret that you wish to start afresh in your love and romance department and the Ace of Cups indicates that that desire as well and truly asserting itself right now.

What is blocking me? The Devil.
There are obstacles either from the past being brought forward to the present; issues relating around questions of ego (I got this word as soon as I saw this card), not to mention a certain bondage towards materialism or certain addictions in the worldly pleasures. I get the feeling there are some issues around you which are holding you back – for example, issues that have may be taken root inside you from past experiences? If this bondage is of a physical nature, there is nothing wrong in the physical and material longings, as long as we don’t become enslaved to them that they pose a stumbling point in our further progress. Please be aware, Hope, that you can set yourself free from these – whatever they may be.

Things I can change. Seven of Cups.
Think or plan one thing at a time. We get the temptation sometimes to wish to conquer the world in one go; or to have everything that we need all in one day. The more targets we set for ourselves, the more stationery we may become. I feel a slower pace and a realistic view of what can be achieved and acquired are elements that may serve to your advantage when you look at them carefully.

Things I must accept. Six of Pentacles.
Giving and taking. With this card I am getting the feeling that a fine balance between what you can offer and what you can expect in return, and to do that in a balanced justice and fair attitude – whether it is the giving or the taking – would make you see the world under a different light and hence balance your dealings with society and the people in your life. We can never be the taker or the giver at all times. Something, somewhere will usually correct that imbalance.

How things will progress? King of Swords.
It looks to me you are surrounded with the air element who may play an important part in your life - the Queen and now the King of Swords. But in the case of the King of Swords, I feel that your stance towards life and your future will be based more on logic and common sense than getting carried away with emotions. The king of swords is one who has a sense of justice, is astute, realistic, and goes straight to the heart of the matter.
This may not mean you will view the world around you with a heart of stone, but a sense of fair judgement and clarity of mind will take you forward in your future affairs.


There are some challenges here with this second reading, and I wish you not to view this one regarding one particular aspect of your life. View it as a general trend and I hope it will make sense to you.

Thank you so much Cedars. As always, your reading was totally accurate, but also invaluable as it provided me with advice. To be honest- this was what i was most concerned with.

It is always useful to gain constructive advice. As you rightly noted- I am quite insecure owing to things that have happened to me in the past from childhood, and this is closely linked to why I have to have time alone to resolve the insecurities that have stemmed from past experiences, but sometimes I just lose my footing a bit whilst trying to get to the end point (of genuine happiness and genuine stability that I don’t question)

Everything you said is very true - I give too much don't (knowingly) expect to receive anything- but then am left uncomfortable at the sentiments of those that are happy to take, but never give (to necessarily to myself, but others. This then further leads me to question why i keep the company i do, and why i seem to exclusively attract such people in terms of men and friends (or supposed friends).

I don't really like delving too deeply in these sentiments, as it makes for uncomfortable thinking. However, turning a blind eye makes me feel a fool.
So inevitably, I have found myself in the very situation you have described - alone , but willingly so. And with an (albeit minimal) group of a couple of people i feel are worth moving forward with in terms of being involved in my life.

I was worried at the current ‘quietness’ of things- but your reading made me feel better as i realised i subconsciously do actually like it and I think I have subconsciously chosen this state- and most importantly - need it.
