To link in with an ‘ex’ is probably not such a good idea, if not for reasons of ethics and privacy (as well as site rules), but I will be the first to admit that ex’s don’t leave our psyche (and sometimes our hearts) so easily…

I will try and do a brief connection with both your energies outside the realms of the cards and will give you what, if anything, I get.

When I tried to link in with you, I sensed a general calm about you. You are just getting on with your life; you are busy doing things, writing things… that is how I see you. And, I have to say, your ex is not within your reach or your radar, and he is not having an impact on your current state. Now, as to why you’re getting these dreams, I will try to get to that if I am given anything. Ileana, this is the picture I am getting: I see you concentrating on a situation which is probably not related to your ex. You are either working at something, or studying, your head down, writing and reading and you have your back to the past and to your ex. But I do not see the same about your ex. I see him looking at you and towards you - the back that you have turned to him. He is not moving forward towards you; he is stationery, as though waiting for a response from you, whether he is not allowed to approach you, or whether it is forbidden territory coming closer to you. This is how I see him.
I don’t sense anything untoward about him. I see him quite calm and composed. He is either hiding it all inside him or he’s just deliberating. But I strongly feel there is a border which he cannot cross to come closer to you. He knows you’ve got other things going in your life and probably those are strong messages not to come near you, even if he wanted to. Now, I do not see you yet turning your face to him because whatever you’re doing at that desk or at that job is taking most of your attention in your current state.

I am a bit at a loss as to what kind of spread to use, as you are not in a relationship with this guy and yet he is somewhere within your energy. I do not wish to assume that you both want to get back together; that will be misleading…

The energy in your current situation is a message of something new; a new start probably where you may have set your heart at something and are quite passionate about it to explore into further. Besides being a passionate and creative energy, this is also the here-and-now, a reality, i.e. not a dream or a wishful thinking. 2. Obstacle(s): Knight of Pentacles.
Whether this is a person (I feel it is) or a situation or part of your personality which is generally a slow mover, very calculating, thorough but obsessive, unwavering and yet stubborn, cautious but considered not a risk-taker, hard working but can be also grinding.
