Hello Chillertwist
There are different Celtic Cross spreads and with certain variations in positions and so on. I am going to interpret your cards with the one I have come to understand and also using my own deck – the Rider Waite original.
Position 1- Present Influences: Nine of Cups.
You have it all; your wishes have come true; you have found the love of your life and you are happy with it. You are that one step away from the attainment (10) but this is as good as being there – completion (9).
Position 2- Blockages/ Challenges: Ten of Swords.
In spite of having it all or being in that state, you are at your lowest low and the complete opposite of position 1 – nothing seems to be moving. You feel you have reached at the end of your tethers and wondering can it get any worse than this? Well, I have news for you Chillertwist: no, it doesn’t get any worse, for how dead can a dead man be? I am not saying you have reach to death’s door, but when you feel you have reached to such an end; when you feel you have done everything and yet you are faced with obstacles, you do laugh at the situation (or, if you like, to the powers at play) and ask them: well, what else are you going to do to me? When one reaches to such a stage in life, there is only one direction one can expect to go: UP!
Position 3- Ideal which you want to achieve. Immediate future (next few days) and the Crowning card: Temperance.
I am so glad this is a Major Arcana card which signifies healing, balance and equilibrium; the blending of your emotions, psyche and the physical – almost being blessed by the Archangel himself as he mixes from one cup into the other all the negative energies of the mind, body and soul thus bringing a fine balance and a sense of healing to all issues, dis-ease, stresses and depressions. Your arrival to this level is imminent, even if you do not have a date for your wedding. This is a phase of a state where you will see the situation in a way that will bring you peace and an inner healing and rid yourself from all negative thoughts as to why your wedding has been met with obstacles.
Position 4 – Causes of situation you find yourself in. Influence of past events on mind and spirit: Justice reversed.
I feel as though you keep on saying ‘this is not fair, it should not happen to me.’ Events in the past, situations whether they have to do with the law or interpersonal strife have not been going smoothly and hence the delay in your much-desired day of happiness – the wedding! Please note Justice has not emotions whether upright or reversed. The job of justice is simply to deliver justice in its purest and coldest, free from any emotional entanglement. Being in the reverse position, I feel you have taken the brunt of a situation in the past which has delayed, rattled and hindered the smooth path of your wedding.
Position 5 – Behind you. Past Influences. Near past: Eight of Pentacles – reversed.
Despite your efforts, despite your resolve and hard work to contribute to the happy and successful fruition of your dreams, your efforts have not been blessed with much success in the near past either. Whether you have been complacent about the events or situation around you; whether you have not assessed and studied the setbacks of this situation, I sense a feeling: I did everything and still could not achieve. This is a situation of the recent past and its influences are leaving you.
Position 6 – Before you – Future influences. The medium future ahead: The Hermit.
I see here the Hermit is coming to answer your sense of helplessness expressed above in position 5. Whatever has been going on so far around you, the Hermit is asking you to take control of yourself and pause for a while and see where you or things went wrong. This is a time of learning from your mistakes and gain the wisdom to start the wheel rolling again, but……not until you have had time to ‘learn’ and reflect upon the events of the distant and the near past.
Please see and observe the direct link with positions 3 and 6. They are both major arcana cards and both refer to a sense of balance, learning, seeing the light and going within and re-assess your mind, soul and emotions about this situation. The Hermit could be, if you like, the “Aha! I know what has been going wrong so far” sense of realisation, and that can only come to you when you pause and take a few steps back without struggling to make things happen, but rather let things happen in their own time.
Position 7 – You. Your perspective on the circumstances. Your attitude towards yourself or the situation and how others regard you: Two of Wands.
Despite the delays and the obstacles in your circumstances, I feel you have foresight and faith in the future that all will be OK. Despite everything that has happened, you look at the future with hope and aspirations – almost like saying The World is My Own and I can do whatever I like. This feeling will come to you almost like a fresh start once you decide and make a choice. I don’t sense this to be a single-handed decision or a choice. There is duality in here and I feel whatever the choice you make may possibly involve someone else too.
Position 8 – Your mindset on your situation. Effect of other people on you in this situation and their intentions. Five of Swords.
I cant help but sense in this situation of yours there may have been parties, family members who have said things, words have been exchanged, some unpleasant and some hurtful and tears may have been shed, but you have been steadfast in this and looked after your own interests. At times you may have felt victorious and having the upper hand, but at other times that feeling may have deserted you and left you feeling empty. In other words, victory but with no sense of achievement. You may even have been seen by your surroundings as the one who came out victorious, but you, in your own heart, did not feel the same.
Position 9 – Your hopes and fears. Your feelings on your chances of failure and success. Completion. Nine of Wands.
This journey has not been easy for you my dear. You have fought and struggled and been hurt in the process and you have now (or will soon be) in a situation where you will guard all your achievements with your life and not let anyone come near you. On one hand your journey and its conclusion has given you Hope that you have reached the end of the struggle, but on the other hand you Fear that this might be taken away from you, for you have fought so hard for it. This is like climbing the stairs and you are almost at the stop and you look back partly proud and secure that you are on or two steps from the top and partly scared that or whether you will be able to make it to the top. The success of your ‘cause’ depends very much on how you handle this Fear. If you build on too much on this fear, then Fear will beget Fear and may bring you down from your place of height. You are almost there my dear, even if at this stage you wish to lick your wounds and protect yourself with all your might, let that fear not overcome your resolve. You are almost there.
Position 10- Outcome. Culmination of all the other cards. Attainment: The Star.
How wonderful to end this reading or this spread with a major Arcana card (as it is supposed to be). And how wonderful too to have The Star as the culmination of all the other cards. This is the state of looking at the future with Hope and Inspiration. Once you get to the top of the stairs with the nine of Wands, you will be in a position to have hope for the future. Note: I don’t see the Star as a card of action; it is a card of hope and inspiration, like the guiding star in the dark night showing the way to the traveller. Hope and Inspiration will be within you to carry this dream of yours forward. You may still have to be the achiever, the one who puts the wheels into motion, but with the guidance of the Star this will become a lot easier for you.
Note the link, once again, between The Star and Temperance in position 3. Both relate to a form of outcome: immediate and future. Both are major arcana cards and both refer to a sense of calm, balance, hope and inspiration.
I know you asked for timing as to when this situation will come to a resolution. I feel the key to the timing of your situation is position Nine, the Nine of Wands. Wands are active cards; they signify weeks rather than months or years. I would not like to dwell too much on the exact timing of events to come, and this is not supposed to be as simple as 1,2,3. The message here is how best you can handle the situation in position Nine and that may be a deciding factor on the speedy timing of your question.
Overall, your reading has come up with three upright major arcana cards – all in the right places – and a reversed one which is in the past. I see this to be quite a positive reading. Before you torture your mind with the element of timing, my dear friend, you have got some work to do as advised by the Hermit in position 6 and take note of the messages in positions 7, 8 and 9.
I wish you all the very best and would be happy to hear from you, even though I only did the interpretation and added my own insights into the cards that you selected.
Blessings.
