Hi Cedars,

I truly want to put this as a seperate topic, hopefully we can share a collective thought on this card.

The Tarocco Siciliano end with Juvo or the angel, we must remember that the angels have a higher "ranking" than mortals, also competent in the World card, being 21. Juvo shares the same number. So then this deck's major, would consist of 23 cards. Il Fugitive and Miseria (The Fool and Poverty) as un-numbered cards.

I had such a vivid experience on Sunday regarding the "bad" experiences we may encounter. I did a reading and as covering we had Justice-reversed. We need to talk the truth as to what the cards present us with. So clearly it can be seen that the person is facing a legal matter with a negative impact. ****, what happened about three hours later, was truly absolutely on the nail. The person phoned me, in tears, her ex husband decided to recind their joint custody of the daughter, and for the worse, her own daughter supported this matter!!

Now, this is only the first step in the Celtic Cross Spread, there is still 9 to go!! Obviously, we always want to give our querants a good reading, but, what to do now? Should we lie? or offer support, look at the rest of the cards and perhaps give some hope. The worst, is that in the 3 cards of advice i offer, we sit with the 10 of Swords. The final outcome being the Queen of Swords (a bad bitch at the best of times). Sorry guys about the strong words, but there is no other explanation for this lot. So, my advice to her(three hours before) was that, although she may be heartbroken and suffer bereavement, in the 10 of Swords there is a wonderfull sunrise and that she should focus on that, rely on her inner strenght and see the matter through. (Strength was in her reading as the immediate action needed to be taken). What I now do, is to monitor what is happening to her everyday. I don't give advice, but only listen.

What do we do? We are gifted to read the cards, should we then ignore the bad?

OK, enough of that!!

I will attach the pic of Miseria again. The "Fate" card i saw as a glimpse, never before nor after. Make no mistake, i searched wide and far to find a copy or even a refferance to it. This card consists of two "falling or shooting" stars crossing paths, on the backdrop of the normal Rider W night-time background, and the same card backing.

Now where are we getting at, with this lot? How much do we really know about the history of Tarot and the cards that was prominent in the early 1600's.

After all I think that the Tarot is such a vast "experience" that we merely get lost in all it's components and vectors?

My question remains, how much do we consider the Tarot to address everyday rankatank experiences, and potential spiritual influences?

Should we include the rich history of Tarot in our readings toghether with the positive and negative?

OR

Must we just be "readers".

I do believe that we cannot hide what we get, no matter how unpleasant that would be to tell to the querent. I am with you on that one. We may doctor it, we may soften the blow, but we cannot decorate the impending news with colourful lights. The querent will gather what bluff we are trying to pull.

I find tarot is a never-ending learning processt.

Coming back to the Miseria card, I find this card the ultimate of all negativity in the very way it has been depicted in its graphics. I wonder what would its reversed form indicate, even though I dont do reversals, unless they happen to come through despite my efforts in shuffling all the cards upright.

As for the Fate card, I would be very interested to see what it looks like. If this is part of the Siciliana deck, why I wonder is it not accessible for viewing. Or isnt it part of that deck?

Have you actually acquired this deck yet?

No, we cannot and should not lie provided the querent can take it. I believe in due consideration to the querent's state of mind if he/she is sitting right in front of me and their mental state is such that they can take more bad news.

'Reading' is telling the truth in my opinion, but there are ways of telling the truth. If someone has had a hammering in her/his life and came to you for a further reading and the cards showed more bad news, would we tell her more bad news on the way or would we choose our words very, very carefully. It is a choice and a dilemma and not a very easy one to make.

Hi Cedars,

I haven't acquired the Siciliana, although I would really wish to get it. I think it might even be out of print.

The Fate card is not part of this deck, it resembled the Rider Waite deck and the Back of the card was the same as Rider. Even the artwork is very much like P. Coleman Smith. I also couldn't see if the card was numbered or not? The cards the reader used was Rider. Now, I can't say if it was added by the reader himself or a variant. As I said, i saw this card only once and never again!

I have done a bit of work on Miseria and will attach it, even me, also beleive that this card depicts the ultimate low in any person's life. I want to include it as an un-numbered card but is hesitant to do so. As you rightly say, let's send our querant away with hope and confidence that whatever is on it's way, it can be fixed or overcome!

Blessed be
Couldn't attach but copy and paste

Misery
Card Description.

This is a unnumbered card, unlike the Fool or 0, that signifies the start of a journey, this one relates to the end of personal success, failure and despair. We see a barefooted beggar, wearing tattered clothing, holding in his left hand an empty bowl or receptacle. Aroung his right wrist he has irons and chains attached to a solid square rock, slightly to the front of the beggar. On his legs we see painfull boils, scratches and injuries. He is obviously destitude and penniless.

Meaning:
Being one of the most destructive cards in the deck, we can foresee a good situation turning bad fast, and very little can be done to aid it.
Zodiac Symbol:
Astral Charactiristics
Astrological correspondence:
Gemstone: Carbon
Element: Air
Season: Winter
Cardinal direction: North, pointing to the north pole, one of the most hostile landscapes
Dominant force: Deprivation, spiritual poverty, financial ruin, possible destruction and desertion, prison.

Upright:  : Deprivation, financial ruin, spiritual poverty, destruction and desertion, prison.
This can be seen as the most destructive card in a deck, with the Tower at least we had a foundation and a possibility to rebuild, here you are bound to a solid rock cube, with chains and irons.
Other names: Miseria, Poverty.

Reversed: This card has no good fortune even if reversed, however it does predict some improvement although only temporary
