Hi Toni,

When you specify the Rider and decks alike, it is difficult to understand why! A great number of decks are based on the Rider Waite deck.

When I read cards, i don't neccesarily use the explanations of that specific deck. I went through the cycle to identify my own set of meanings and read cards upright and reversed, but in general you may find the same meaning or perhaps totally opposite.

So, whichever deck i use, the same set of meanings is what i use to do the interpritations. But then again, symbolism which is an inherent part of the images, is what i then use to link circumstances to the different other cards.

Sometimes, motivations or direction does not come from the card itself as it is presented but by way of a little byroad. As an example which way will you follow if you are Presented with the Moon card and after that The Tower. Divine inspiration on the one hand or divine intervention on the other?

My husband reads the Celtic Dragon and a rookie friend the Witches Tarot, I can also do the Haindl or Robin Wood, But remeber the same set of rules apply. Chances are that i would lay the Haindle and then in any event pack the Rider Waite according to the exact lay-out.

Blessed be

It's not the layout or the meaning of the cards....It's the actual cards themselves.  I've never actually been read with them, but anytime I am near them I get sick to my stomach and want to get away.  Even when I see them online or in a photo.  I can't explain it, I have no idea why I feel that way.  I have been asked to look at other similar tarot to see if I get the same reaction.  The other ones did not affect me as the RW, I just didn't like those ones.

You fail to answer one question:
Do you really care what cards the reader uses for a reading? Does it still make you sick to the stomach?

Are you insisting that you DO NOT be given a reading with the RW deck? What if the reader didnt tell you that it was the RW? Would you still get sick to the stomach?

You may not like using the RW deck yourself, but what diference would it make to you when being given a reading based on the RW? After all, you are not seeing the cards and nobody is forcing you to view the cards against your will, unless you start consciously visualising the cards while going through your own reading.

I honestly don't know if a reader using the cards and putting the info online would affect me the same way.  I do know that even mentioning the deck affect me that way.  I personally have never used the deck, I hate to get close to it.  And I know it's not just about viewing the deck itself, as I have been in stores checking around to see what they had and gotten that feeling, only to look around and find a poster of the deck, or the deck itself nearby.  I don't even know what all the cards look like.  I didn't mean to cause any problems by asking not to have a specific deck, so I will withdraw my request.  I didn't realize it would be such an issue to dislike a deck and wish not to interact with it.
Can I get a reading please?
