Hi!  I am new to tarot and i tried to do a reading on myself  (celtic cross) and it looks terrible.  I think i lack objectivity & my readings are cueing in my insecurities or maybe they are telling the truth.  If anyone would have the time to help me interpret, even just bits of the reading, I would be very grateful!


Q:  How will I fare romantically with X person?

Justice is my significator

Position 1: Center of the reading space. = 9 cups (reversed)

Position 2: Horizontally placed on top of the card in position 1,
crossing it. = 4 swords

Position 3: Below the card in position 1. = Wheel of Fortune

Position 4: To the left of position 1. (when you are looking at the
spread. not the card'
s left) = 5 cups (reversed)

Position 5: Above the card in position 1. = High Priestess

Position 6: To the right of the card in position 1 = Sun (Reversed)

Position 7: To the lower right, farther than the card in position six.
= Magician (Reversed)

Position 8: Above the card in position 7. = Knight Pentacles (Reversed)

Position 9: Above the card in position 8. = 4 coins (Reversed)

Position 10: Above the card in position 9. = Judgement (Reversed)

I didn't "understand" the 10th position so i asked the deck for
clarification and i drew "The Star" reversed.


I didn't get a good interpretation out of this. I especially do not understand the outcome card.

As a beginner, I would not have suggested doing the Celtic Cross spread for a detailed reading. It can be quite daunting, even thought this is supposed to be the most popular spread.

furthermore, you are talking in terms of positions of the cards rather than what the name of those positions are......above this...... underneath that.........  All these positions have their meanings..... what does your Celtic Cross spread's positional meanings are?

Is there a better spread for beginners to use than celtic cross?  I only know that one, horseshoe, and 3 card one.  :(

Ok here are the positions meanings:

#1 present position
#2 immediate influence
#3 goal/destiny
#4 distant past foundation (i don't really understand what this means)
#5 recent past events
#6 future influence
#7 the questioner & his/her attitude
#8 environmental factors/other people who affect the reading
#9 inner emotions/fears/hopes
#10 Final outcome


I had no idea these position meanings could be so different for different celtic cross spreads.

What tarot deck did you use?

I had a quick look at position 6 and 10 and the clarification card (star reversed), it doesn't look too good to be honest. I noticed most of your cards are reversed.  Just wondering with the magician reversed, whether you lack belief in yourself to make things work or happen, or whether your intentions are not good...perhaps there's some kind of manipulation or control... Just a thought.
