It's been an interesting month since my first reading with small progress with myself and the children's dad.

After close on a month with no contact at all we have started talking again and have even had dinner with the kids and been to counselling together.

He has disclosed that he is very unhappy where he is but the fact of the matter is that that is where he is at the moment.  He is still living with the business partner and she is continuing to meddle but it would appear that she is overplaying her hand as he is not happy at all.  His words were that the life she lives is fake, and although she does everything for him it does not make him happy, in fact quite the opposite.  I even offered him the children week about but he has said that it is not ideal where he is living so will stick to the two nights.  I understand from his sister that he is looking for a place of his own.

He has told me on several occasions that he will not give me the satisfaction of telling me how he really feels, partly because I don't deserve it and partly because he worries that I will throw it back in his face.

In counselling he said that he trusts me like nobody else but also that he has given me so much more than anybody else and I have hurt him so badly.  He has never been hurt like this before.  When the counsellor asked what he wanted in the way of a relationship with me he stated several times that at this time he was just interested in keeping things amicable for the children.  At this time, this was his catch phrase!

I get the very strong feeling he  very much wants his family back together and once he sorts out things where he is at the moment, both physically and emotionally, I suspect he will want to make a go of things.

My question therefore is:  will we be successful in finally having a happy contented family life together and how much longer are we going to need to be apart to ensure its success....
