I am planning a retreat to the mountains just to recuperate and have some time out just for myself.

When I read your posting and started concentrating on your request, for some reason, I did not feel going up to the mountains was for you. I mean to say that it all sounds good leaving everything and going away in a monastic style to recharge your batteries, but that may not be the answer for you. I am currently working on a construction barge of 200 people (more or less) and have been here for 90 days now. I am feeling like wanting to chew everyone's head off. That's why I am thinking of getting some solitude up in the mountains.





The main reason of resigning is because this company I am working with does not care much about the well being of its employees (it's a company culture) and I am not in the position nor having the clout to change it.

Your suspicion abt health wise is also accurate as I suspect myself there's something wrong with my kidneys (from the water retentions - swollen face and legs I am getting lately).




I read this as my resignation is the correct course of action. I do have a deep anxiety and fear (due to something similar happened in the past) that I wont be able to get a job after resigning from the project. However, weighing the pain of staying with a company that human resource policies does not resonate with me  against the fear of an uncertain job future, I had decided to opt for the latter. ALthough I am nervous and afraid, I am going to do it anyway.




Dont know if this applies, but the administrator of the barge did have a talk with me after posting this reading request; asking my reason for quiting. I lied I had found a job, so he asked me how much pay raise I would like if they wanted me to continue to be with the project. I gave him a sum that I am happy with. I am quite determined to go actually, but if the pay is right, I will still consider.... Whether they will consider or not, I truly need a break.

No reader will tell you what you should do Alex, but I feel if you'd rather resign and leave, at least you could tell them about the dire working conditions at least for those left behind. That is perhpas why I got the feeling of you doing something down here in aid of others. Any rate, I hope you get your pay rise and in the process put a few words about the working conditions to benefit you and others.
Look after your health; they should know what health impact this place is having on you and possibly on others too.
