hi i am new here and would like to know if anybody can help me.when you give a reading must you use both the major and minor Arcanas or can you just use one for example the major Arcanas? Thank you for your help

I believe there are many people who use only the Majors, although of course the readings will not be so varied or rich in meanings, since Major Arcana are prototypes that are hardly ever found in their pure forms in everyday life. When using all 78 cards (and you can even interpret them reversed, too!), the Minor usually describe everyday situations and people,  while the Majors point to the path we can follow or avoid in order to continue evolving.

But you can also read only the Minor, as people do who read standard playing cards. In fact, you can read from oracle decks, runes, crystals, tea dregs, snails, clouds, animal entrails... you name it. The tools you use are only the means to reach your inner guides and with luck those of the querent, who are the ones who usually know best about how to go in any given situation.

Of course, this is just my personal view, but I am sure you will soon get other interesting opinions on the matter.

It is done all ways. I recently ran into a site that runs a script that seperates the court cards, then deals them seperately over the normal cards of the celtic cross. Gives an interesting twist on each position.
I am going to try it, but I hesitate because I don't like to seperate or put my cards in any kind of order.

I know, me neither. I have lots of different spreads in which you separate Majors from Minors and Courts, but it is such a chore... I never got round to doing any of those.

In my opinion, the Tarot is like a book. You can't split a book separating its chapters.
So, I heartily recommend to use the whole deck. Think that the Majors are complemented
by the Minors. In this way you can draw a more complete reading, considering all factors.
I know by experience that some students of the Tarot consider easier to use the Majors only,
but, believe me, they are missing a lot by setting the Minors out.
