When we ask for a Reading....do we then ask for guidance....or do we ask for Confirmation of own thoughts?

If it is for confirmation...the reading has little value in the way to change ones path....one do like one always have done.

If it is for guidance....when do you know that you have got the right one?

If you ask for several readings....you might get several answer....all might be right ...all might be wrong...1 might be right..which one? and so on.
Will you pick the one who is close to your own thought? or will you pick one that say you have to change course?
Maybe the change is the right one....after all...the most important thing with all readings are the evaluation of the Reading itself. Look for new ways to approach the problem.....get new ideas into ones mind.

No Reading in itself can solve any problem or put you into the arms of your lover....all is in the end up to you...and how you solve the day....

I have a question, How often is it recommended to get a reading ?

A general reading would I say...no more the twice a year.

This way you might "change" path and look how it develop....if you do it to often....nothing will work...your road will be like a drunken driver

On th other hand....if you learn the trade..you can use it daily on specific question or approach....but it would be wrong to run to a site to do it.

I therefor recommend you Gem's course in Tarot....it develop a better understanding in how Tarot work....and you might grow with it...some of the mystic will vanish... and you will use the information in a better way

as rRhutobello has said a general reading usually done every 6 months hence twice a year.  speicfici questions more often and of course used as a guide towards maybe even the bigger goals you want out of life.  

the reading i did i would suggest give for more time for the future part of the reading to get to the future.  and sense a question like yours deals so much with the things you can not control because you can not control other people just influence them by your own actions.  finding someone sometimes strongly deals with how hard you try and how often you try etc.   use the tarot as a guide and not a future teller and you'll see more clearly what you need to do and not will just happen to you!
