Hello

This is my first post in this forum and it is about a reading I did using the Rider-Waite tarot deck and the Celtic Cross spread.

The question was a very generic one regarding my life: what this life will be.

I have dark south european characteristics and I am younger than 40 so I chose the Knight of Pentacles as the Significator.

There was an unusual number of Major Arcana cards in the spread. Out of the 10 cards, 7 were Major Arcana cards.

The cards were as followed:

1. Two of Swords
2. THE WORLD (reversed)
3. JUSTICE
4. Six of Pentacles
5. THE HANGED MAN
6. THE WILL OF FORTUNE
7. THE LOVERS
8. Nine of Wands
9. Five of Pentacles
10. THE DEVIL (reversed)

As you can imagine, I am puzzled over the final card which as you can see is THE DEVIL reversed. I understand that this cannot be very good especially if we take into account its position.

Given the nature of the question, while reading the meaning of each card and its place in the spread, I considered a more liberal interpretation than the one suggested by the Celtic Cross. Prefering to see the cards from 7 to 10 as events in a chronological order instead of sticking to their meaning in relation to their position. This interpretation also makes a lot of sense in regards to my current life (accurately portrayed by THE HANGED MAN card), my past and additionally what I have been told by other divinations concerning my future life.

I would like your insight on this reading. Feel free to be as honest as you can. Life hasn't been very generous to me so far, so I am used to hardships and if my ending isn't good I think I can manage that knowledge.

Thanx in advance for any replies!

Hi,

How long have you been using the CC, and or how long have you met the Tarot? The CC is not a very simple spread, although you glean a lot of info from it, if you search enough.

I will pack the cards as you explained and will give you "guidance" on how to read the CC. I also have extensive tutorials on the CC and the influences governed by each house.

I will give you the links where these are hosted on Google. I will also fit your cards in the CC Template with the interpritations and see if I can derive a simple conclusion for you. Fortunately I only study the Celtic Cross and the Rider Waite, so you are spot-on in my area of interest!

If you haven't shuffled the rest of the deck, you can draw three cards of advise from it. I always do it, and at times it gives you wonderful guidance.

Blessed be

Hi Payewacker

Thank you for your message.

I am almost a complete rookie. I use The Tarot 2-3 times a year and for general questions (e.g. will this be a good year for me?). My understanding of the cards is also minimum and I am ignorant of their correspondence to the astrological houses or their khabbalistic meaning. I merely open the explanatory book and read the meaning of each card. I am new to divination as well, I started with the I Ching  but I don't find it compatible with the western cultural matrix and in my personal experience its answers are always very ambiguous. So I abandoned. The Tarot suits me better.

Interestingly, although most of the times my Tarot readings are a bit vague, the general idea I get from each reading is always accurate. For example 2 years ago while still a student I asked The Tarot about the coming academic year. The cards predicted a relationship and a fairly easy year provided I was persistent with hard work. Both came true.

Unfortunately I have reshuffled the deck so I cannot draw cards for guidance. Moreover, there is a chance that the 8th card (the 9th of Wands) was reversed as well.

I was under the impression that the CC is the easiest and most used method. Apparently I was wrong:)

After the last reading my interest in The Tarot has reinvigorated.

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi,
The CC can be easy or it can be most complicated, whichever you choose. When doing readings for one self it should be done "cold" and with no bias at all. This is difficult, because most people will want to find "that which suits them". Therefore as reader I don't read for myself or family members and close friends at all. If I do, it would be purely on the theoretical and a cold approach. I allow the Tarot-spirits to manipulate the cards to give me an answer.

On MB, the CC is not "widely" used, but, I stand to be corrected. As you said, you have a lot of Majors in your spread. What is interesting is the placement of The Lovers and the Devil. The Lovers sits in the house, which explains "you". The numeric value is 6--Vav, which corresponds to the male copulative energy, it also describes "man". The Devil, Samech, is the female copulative energy, and corresponds to "bondage" The gematrix is 6-60-600. In essence we can say that "you" are linked to "end result".

We can draw this out a bit, but it is up to you to decide if we should make this an extensive tutorial, it will also assist many "rookies" to the Taror.

Blessed be

Hi again Payewacker

feel free to analyse the reading as much as you want. I will be grateful if you do and if it is to help others better understand The Tarot that is even better.

I would be lying if I said I understood the significance of the numeric value of the cards. So if you can  "dump it down" a bit, it would be great.

As I aforementioned I am ok with listening any negative things you will find in the reading. In fact I would prefer if you can be as honest and straightforward as you can.
