what kind of emotions does the six of cards display?    i know swords are all about the mind...so i am correct to say that there are no emotions, the emotions have been left behind or whatever emotions are left the person is taking them with them, like baggage?    i am using the rider waite deck here.

feeling the blues
   experiencing a low-level sadness
just keeping your head above water
working to get through the day
   feeling somewhat depressed
avoiding the lows, but also the highs
   feeling listless
   functioning, but not much more

recovering
dealing with the effects of trauma
   getting over a tough time
   picking up the pieces
   starting to cope
beginning to get your health back
heading toward a more positive place
   feeling hope again

traveling
   changing location
moving from one place to another
   taking a trip
   experiencing a change of scene
   being uprooted
   going on a journey
entering into a new frame of mind

At one point in The Pilgrim's Progress, the hero Christian (who is also on a Fool's Journey) becomes mired in the Slough of Despond. He struggles for a time until drawn out by Help. Help tells him that "...many fears, and doubts, and discouraging apprehensions...settle in this place."

The Slough of Despond is a good name for the Six of Swords. Sometimes this card represents a dull, listless state. Nothing is seriously wrong, but nothing is really right either. You're getting by, but not thriving. In the picture the figures in the boat seem sad and disengaged. Life is indeed uninteresting when we feel the blues.

In a more positive vein, the Six of Swords can indicate recovery. This is especially true when you have just experienced a tough time or psychological blow. During the crisis, you felt numb and disconnected; nothing mattered at all. Now you are beginning to heal and pick up the pieces of your life. The travelers in our boat are at least moving forward. They are headed toward a new place, even if they are not yet ready to eagerly embrace those shores.

In fact, the Six of Swords can indicate travel and moves of all kinds. This could mean an actual change of scene, relocation or trip, but not necessarily. A journey can also take place on the inner planes as we move from one frame of mind to another.

Although the Six of Swords does not promise great joy, it also avoids the depths of despair. A slough is not a bottomless pit, but simply a hollow or depression. When you see this card, know that even though the situation is not ideal, you are moving toward a more positive place. Change is in the air, and new, more hopeful conditions lie ahead.

This card confirms that you are in a somber state, but it is a card that signals the bottom has been reached and that the slow process of healing has begun.

I think enumero123 says it all very nicely. The only thing I might add is if the going has seemed uncomfortable or rough, it will, in a very short while become smoother. As water is calmer nearer the shore.

It's how a personal feels when there is a permanent loss of a relationship as in a divorce.

The need is to move forward and move on with life and get past all of those feelings.

All the sixes are ruled by the Lovers, these cards are all about receiving the first unit of "LIFE", in the Hierophant, there is only "life-pulse"

How do we read any card? Take all your sixes, preferable from the RW. Now scrutinise them and look for divisions in them. The six of Swords has three divisions.

How do I get there? 2 Swords to the left of the woman and child, 3 people aboard 1 boat. 4 Swords infront of the people. Essentially, they suffered with upheavels, financially, relationships etc, and are now moving on to a better set of circumstances, although their problems have not bee resolved completely yet! They are entering a time from where they were constantly troubled to a period or place of rest, which is not defined yet.

The single boat is the catalyst of the move, from Ace of Swords, too two of Swords to three of Swords and four of Swords.

Let's look at Six of Cups:
Here, once again we look at Ace of Cups, one Cup on the Pillar with the shield. Two of Cups, the boy and girl---look closely at their garments. Put Two of Cups next to it! Look closely for the corresponding symbolism. in the front we have four Cups of which one does not have a flower--Four of Cups. Three Cups has flowers. Four of Cups-- 3 arranged in the front, another given from the sky. NOW, look past the Ace of Cups, you see a man walking away with a single Wand!!

Six of Wands.
Again, we see two Wands to the left, Ace of Wands in the Wand having the crest, but part of the four wands we see before the rider.

Six of Pentacles.
Let us find Ace of Pentacles: One Pentacle above the head of the person,
Two of Pentacles to the right, where we find a set of scales---balancing act! And three of pentacles above the head of the first person on the left. However the other one to the right is being "weighed", Four of pentacles, in the number of coins being given.

Blessed be

Look at Six of Wands.
