Hi PW,
Thanks for your vote of confidence.
Although I rarely use 3-card spreads (I may have done so at the start of my tarot journey) am in no way denying the beauty of 3-card spreads and their depth in giving clear-cut answers. I use many other spreads and I will not hide the fact that I am not such a big fan of the Celtic Cross. However, my good friend, I may be becoming a convert following your postings and the wealth of information about the Celtic Cross. (I may surprise you one day with a layout of a CC spread with what I have gathered so far.....)
I wonder if a 'tutorial' can be done on 3-card spreads... hmmmmmm......
I would suggest we go on posting under this thread people's favourite 3-card spreads and let us all (newbies and otherwise) start looking at them and possibly give some readings?
I will start with the following two:
1. SITUATION
2. OBSTACLE.
3. ADVICE.
1. WHAT IS WORKING FOR YOU?
2. WHAT IS WORKING AGAINST YOU?
3. HOW TO COMBINE THESE TWO IN ORDER TO SUCCEED?
Now, if anyone out there has an issue pertaining to the above two examples, you can either draw the cards yourself and give your own interpretation or one of us here may do it for you. Or, you can pose the question and one of us does a 'reading' based on the above criteria.
The choice is all yours....
You can add your own to the above list of 3-card spreads and we can get all the wiser with what is available out there which I'm sure must be PLENTY.
I would rather we all worked together on this one.

Hi Cedars,
I had a book, but will retrieve it, from the person I gave it to. I think it's authored by "ratcliffe, but really i'm speaking under correction here. He does purely or exclusively three card spreads.
In his book he pointed out the direction of how movement started and is opposed, by the way of the main direction of the cards, or the way people look from inside the card. These are things that you would be able to explain more comprehensively than me. I gave the book away, because I felt it would be to more use for my friend, but she does palmistry, and only when she has enough red wine to give a entertaining reading. I'm afraid the Robin Wood deck and this book is only gathering dust with her. It would be better for me to retreive it.
It's a compliment when you say you are warming up to the CC, with my explanations. Look at it as a single train track, going exactly somewhere, and the locomotive is Aleph, it is the one and only energy that is maintained in each step taken. As steps are taken, the other letters become additions to Aleph.
Maybe link the three card spreads to the 3 divisions in the Majors.
But I think, 3 card spreads are as powerful as spreads using the entire deck, don't discount your knowledge and understanding. You are very talented!
Blessed be.

... And don't you doubt it for a second! Actually, I've also been always intrigued by the way you, Cedars, sometimes use two or three cards for each position in some of your spreads: that is what gets you that much info!
Maybe PW means you could post your approach to reading each of this 2 or 3 card combinations within a bigger spread (is that it, PW? or do you mean just the small 3 card spreads?). Anyway, I think if you did a mini tutorial on how to link 2 or 3 cards in a line reading, that would be helpful for both 3 card spreads and those spreads you use with 2-3 cards per position, right?
If you agree to do this very enlightening thread, I'll be sure to post it in our ever growing Tarot Topics sticky. I'll be waiting for your opinion on this.
Hugs to you both, guys

Hi Pirbid, Cedars.
You've nailed it on the spot! I have no cooking clue as how to handle three card spreads! If I needed a quick answer on something, I would do a 3 card, but limit it to the cards divinatory, hard fact interpretation. As for extracting more info, adding other cards to the spread, Cedars have clearly shown us the significance to three card spreads, even if he thinks, the shoe don't fit , he is a wonderfull reader!!!
Cedars and truly, when you put your mind to it, you can add chapters of info!
Doing this as a team effort, is very important, as we all have a way of expressing the same view, but in a differing way!
But this topic, I leave to you guys!
Blessed be.
