Common advice from many books on giving readings ("Tarot reading etiquette") is NOT to reveal very bad news in a reading; however, the spoken word in magical practice carries the power into the universe and allows for "the event" to happen...So, if the cards have foretold a tragic event do we as seers speak and let it (help it[???]) come to be or keep silent (try to hinder fate[???])?

Seems this is more a discussion for Tarot...so I move it there.

My opinion is that any forecast of any trade is a forecast....and since forecast is not the same as truth...which is called truth...then we must be very careful  to tell thing that can damage the asker or a third person.

One damage can't be justified by ten right assumption.. because they ten might have known or got the information other ways...the one you damaged can never be fixed.

Any Reading shall in my opinion give leads for a better life....give thoughts to see a case from another view...and we as Readers are also responsible to think a case true when we look at card, charts, or whatever...because the message can have many answers...it all depend from which angel we look at it.

Good topic to raise and glad you raised it.
It is a delicate point and as readers we should have tact and also some creativity to convey these messages, IF we are going to remain truthful to the cards and their insights.

1) You can take the position of cautioning the querent about this or that aspect; give advice to look out for possible eventualities of this or that sort, without actually stating out the obvious. Who knows? It may not turn out that way. But by cautioning the querent or drawing their attention to a possible 'bad' event, they may with their free will follow the advice given and overcome or change the pattern of their life in bringing about those calamities or bad events.

2) I feel, when faced with such a situation and if you want to say exactly what the cards have revealed, you can bring the querent alongside you and show him/her the cards and simply interpret them, giving him/her the understanding that they have full power and that they can influence the course of events or lessen the blow by prior warning. It will be to them to take or leave the advice given.

I feel it is best not to take the role of the prophet because that reading which was done on that particular day can change if and when the querent takes in the advice given or simply by being cautioned about a forthcoming event.

I also agree with Rhutobello's analogy of 'forecast'.

It is said that when you desire something really the entire universe conspires to make it happen.
But is the spoken word in this context an expression of desire or is it a statement of how the reader feels the things will unfold.
If the latter then I don't think that stating something would make things happen.
It might be prudent to state it as some sort of caution to the seeker.

By 'stating' what - in this case - the cards have revelaed for the querent's question may not necessarily mean (or it shouldnt mean) that we are triggering the Law of Attraction to deliver that. It is one thing to air our heart's desire to the Universe, it is another thing to interpret the cards for the messages they are conveying to the querent.

I think these are two different things: Law of Attraction and interpreting what's on the cards.

I also dont think that our negative thoughts would affect the LOA as effectively as our positive ones. It would take a lot of effort and a huge, repeated concentration to make our negative thoughts deivered to us by the powers of the LOA.
