I am following some lessons on understanding Tarot and it is filled with great insights.  The lesson I just finished was finding your Life Path (unique lessions we must master in our lifetimes) and My Personal Year (defines my life lessons for the year).

Very acurate.  My Life path is the Chariot  and the Tower. Which is true.  I do feel victory through mastery.  I also have material ambition and am ego driven in my thinking.

My Personal Year (2008) was Death.  If I could list all the things that have abruptly ended this year causing me to start anew...  Too many to list.  This has been a eye opener of a year for me.

If you're curious, try this...
What is your Life Path:  (all numbers get reduced)

My birth month:  Dec = 12 = 1 + 2 = 3
My birth day:      31          = 3 + 1 = 4
My birth year:   1962        = 1 + 9+ 6 + 2 = 18  =  1 + 8 = 9
Add them all up: 3 + 4 + 9 = 16  =  Tower  
then reduce for Life Path clarity:  1 + 6 = 7  = Chariot

So my Life path is the Tower and the Chariot.
These are the life lessons you have encountered throught your life.  Your life's theme if you will.

Next, find your Personal year:  use Month, Day and todays year (2008)

my month = 3
my day = 4
year = 2008 = 2+0+0+8 = 10  = 1 + 0 = 1

Add them up:  3 + 4 + 1 = 8  = Death

This is the lesson this year will teach you.  Every year will be a different lesson.  


Next, do a 5 card spread on your Life Path.  This gives you a quick road map of your life lessons.  Use only the MAJOR Arcana cards because you want to call on the higher power of understanding.

This is also acurate.  All my cards goes back to making choices.  I know what I need to do but cannot get motivated.  I know where my life can be better but refuse to make the needed changes.

The 1 and the 6 are from the 16, Dee simplified the 16 by adding the two digits together.

My birth month:  Dec = 12 = 1 + 2 = 3
My birth day:      27          = 2 + 7 = 9
My birth year:   1989        = 1 + 9+ 8 + 9 = 27  =  2 + 7 = 9
Add them all up: 3 + 9 + 9 = 21  =  XXI The World
Life Path clarity:  2 + 1 = 3  = III The Empress

So my Life path is XXI The World and III The Empress.


My month = 3
My day = 9
Year = 2008 = 2+0+0+8 = 10  = 1 + 0 = 1

Add them up:  3 + 9 + 1 = 13  = XIII Death




Dee, you said that 8 was Death as well, but I've always seen VIII as Strength... is it Death in your deck?  I've always seen XIII as Death.  Just wondering

What if I get 26 for my Life Path? There is no 26th card in the Major Arcana.
Do I reduce the 26 to 8? Strength as in Life path Clarity?
Makes no sense this bit.

Moreover, for the Personal Year, assuming it is 17, do I reduce it to 8?

Or is my Personal year 17= The Star?

What number is the Fool considered for this purpose?

From my understanding, your Life Path of 26 get's reduced to 2 + 6 = 8.

For your personal year, you have a major theme and a minor theme.  Your major theme is 17 (the star), your minor theme is 1 + 7 = 8.

wow, your Life path and a minor lesson you learn this year both goes back to the Star.  Has the Star theme been prominant in your life?

As for the Fool (0) = We have already started our Fool's path so to speak.  Now we are to go after your life's theme.
