I once read somewhere that you should always purchase two decks. One for your own readings... and another for readings for others.

What do you think? Is this something that you all do, or do you just keep the same cards ?

I just brought a rider-waite deck yesterday. My first deck was Cachet deck which I brought at borders a couple of weeks ago.

Do you have to use a separate deck of cards to read for yourself; then a separate deck of cards to do readings for other people?

I read somewhere something about energies in the deck and how you don't want your energies to get mixed with other people's.

Well I use both deck for reading for myself and to other people. I mean it's doesn't matter if you purchase two deck. In fact you could purchase any deck that you want.

I think I have broken all the "rules" here. I use one deck for all and I let others touch my deck as well. In fact, I let them shuffle, draw and place the cards in the spread positions we have picked out together.
I find my energies come out in readings. To combat this I want as much of their energy in the cards as possible. I tell them what the cards mean in each position. I shuffle in between readings to clear their energy.
I have never had someone tell me the cards are way off since I started doing it this way.
Before that, everyone was having babies, or cheating on their spouses!LOL
