I guess you really have to decided when you are ready to charge for readings.  I did free readings up until I was admitted as a Professional Member of the Tarot Guild of Australia - I passed their transition requirements and I abide by their code of ethics.  I also have insurance cover for public liability.  I do not do half hour readings (unless it is in a party setting) and only offer an hourly rate, my clients are also sent a type written report which is a  shorten version of the main points of their reading.

How much to charge, well I guess you need to look around you and see what others are charging and also what you feel your particular ability is worth. - Don't be greedy and build your reputation as a good reader. The price I charge for a face to face reading is different to what I offer for an internet reading.

Decide what type of reader/readings you wish to be/do.  I do not do predictive readings and I feel you have a responsibility towards the person that you read for, therefore in my own opinion you need to be mindful of what you say.  The type of reading I practice is pro-active, in which I help the seeker to look where they have not thought to look in order to make the best decisions for themselves.

I sometimes use standard spreads but more often than not I design my own spreads to meet and address the needs of the seeker.

I hope this information has been some help to you, and I do understand that not everyone has the same opinion as myself - diversity is what makes the world go round!

Hi guys,

Rev_Vista, I think your approach makes so much sense! I take that a lot of readers really don't absolutely need to generate income from reading. Those that need to do that, no matter how much they charge or how good they are, may find themselves in the never ending financial seesaw. If we then look at the timeperiod we spend on actual learning and studying, merely reading through the LWB or a few books is truly not enough.

To persue a career, which is financially stable and enough to sustain a family, takes years at University. If I look at my period of studiyng at university was 5 years, from there it took another two and a half years before I completed my Masters degree. Not only did it cost a fortune at varsity but also for accomodation etc. What then is the difference--none. One thing is forsure, we learn throughout the period we read. Every day we learn something new. I honestly think that we are the lowest paid phsyciatrist around, in essence, we assist people to alter their mindset to acheive their goals!!

Blessed be

You have to decide if you want to charge or not! But the thing is that should somebody charge for helping other people? If you feel tired just don't do the reading....
I'm not really sure if it's right to get money for having special abilities...but on the other hands why not?U can do something that the others can't...
That awful question!
