Hallo!

I've brought up this subject again because of something that has been bothering me since I first read this thread.

I use a significator when time allows because I find that showing the querent a display of all 16 court cards and then having them pick one that they feel represents either themselves or the person they want to ask about, gives the reading a more interactive feel and helps the querent focus on the matter.

But then I get worried that I'm stopping that card from naturally popping up in the spread. So yesterday, while reading for a friend, I made her pick up her courtc. in the usual fashion, made a mental note of it and then shuffled it right back in with the rest. I was curious to see if it would come up by itself and... it did! in 3 out of 3 different readings, too (we picked 3 different courts because each reading referred to a different person, but each came up in its own reading). But with the added information of coming up in different positions and sometimes upright, some reversed.

I found the experience very eyeopening, so I think this is the way I'll use significators from now on. How does it feel to you?

That is brilliant

There are many methods of using a significator, first the question is chosen then after choosing the card it is then reshuffled back in and the deck split into 4 piles or more with each pile being applicable to an area, so Air, Fire, Water, Earth ( emotions, material goods, work, intellect) if the significator was in the pile relating to the area the reading went ahead, if not the reading was cancelled.

Mmmm... I had never heard of that.

I'm not sure if I would cancel the reading just because I didn't get the significator chosen in it. We may have erred in picking the right one with our conscious mind. So it could come up as a different range or a different kind of energy. It's quite usual for us to want to see ourselves as mature, centered "upright" Queens and Kings, but most of the time we tend to act a little less so (as for myself, I'd love to be the Queen of Wands all the time, but I doubt I ever go any further than the Knight, sigh).

Nice to hear from you. As you can see, I'm really preparing for those 2008 lessons so I'm never caught off guard! ;D

I am sorry, but I think with picking a significator or not, we are simply complicating things. The cards will bring what the cards will bring. If the person you are reading for is standing right in front of you, why would you need a signifcator to double-prove to you who he/she is?

Your very own experience showed to you that the cards will insisit on bringing what you need to see. I have had that 'beautiful' and as you say, 'eye opening' many times and has filled me with awe and respect.

I will try it myself one day this significator thing and see what happens.

Blessings.

Hi Guys,
The way in which the significator is shuffled back into the deck, is interesting, my question is then, the seeker is represented by this card, then the area of predominant influence should then be read in the house it pops up. and would that then ground the entire reading?

Gem, it's the first i learn of the way you explained determining the area of interest, will try it some time!

Blessed be
Significators.
