No, I don't agree, that is a misconception, the Court cards indicate personalities, and both sexes. A man may be nurturing and compassionate or fiery and strong willed just the same as the Queens, they are more about heirachy and spirits.  I guess it does depend on why you choose a significator though?

I'm confused. So...you don't pick the significator, but if the client is a man, it's always kings or knights, and if it's a woman it's always queens? Well...that would pretty freaky if that happened all the time. Or do you mean like...you separate the kings/knights/queens from the deck and pick from those?

You commented on the gay tarot not having 2 pentacles, the card have other symbolism as only 2 pentacles.

Yeah, it has to have meanings that can be explained in symbolism other than just a picture of two coins, but me and my craziness would be frantically searching all over the card to find the two discs as if the card were some "Where's Waldo?" thing. ^.^

Quote:
High Queens--Permanent cross dressers and the ability to "mince" when walking, fluttering of the hands, etc.
and the the "straight looking, straight acting".

So would you also take this into consideration when assigning significators?

Also, to the admin who removed my previous postings, I'd like them back in place if that's not too much to ask. I saw nothing more "controversial" in them than anything that was offered up in this thread before they were posted. I thought forums were about freedom of speech, and the responsiblities of this freedom was the understood notions against lies, slander, libel, personal insults, attacks, and verbal abuse, all of which I make certain my postings are free of. So...there is no ground to remove them unless you just don't like what I said...but I'm pretty sure that classifies as abuse of power.

Now you've gone and made Payewacker seem like he's talking to the wind! :D

That's how I always thought it was done too.  Just because the picture on the card is that of a woman, doesn't mean it has to relate to a woman or an overtly-feminine man.  Thanks for clearing that up.

Hi,

I posted a note earlier asking that you keep your posts polite and on topic. If you have a problem then please contact the admins, do not try and disrupt things here by going on about freedom of speech. You are not a frequent visitor to the tarot forum and it is rather worrying that you appear to have jumped straight onto this topic with your personal views.

Any further posts discussing this will be removed.

Can we please get back to the topic now.

Thanks

Hi Gem,

I understand when you say that personalities normally differ, although i've been fortunate at times that the sign. turned out as was chosen. My opinion is that the significator "grounds" the reading, it's only my approach, to me it feels "offich" not to select one, most probably because i started reading in that fashion and maybe the direct influence from the person that led my study!!

Blessed be.

Ahh but that all depends on why you use a significator? In the older days, a significator was chosen and then replaced into the deck to be shuffled with the rest,

Then the deck was divided into four piles each with a different attribution, Air Fire Earth and Water and then whatever the question was about the appropriate pile was chosen, if the significator was in that pile the reading went ahead because it was on track, if the significator wasn't in the deck then the reading was stopped and cancelled.

Perhaps we should start another thread bout significators, they are a fascinating topic.
