I believe that if we don't use Tarot as a tool for divination (fortune telling/future prediction) then it is not helpful to do a reading for someone else. Here's what I mean. If you deal out some cards you can lead a person through the lay out. You can explain to the person what each of the posistions mean and then ask them what card catches their eye and what they think it means. You can then tell them what the diffrent meanings of the card is and if that is significant to them and their life. You continue this through out the lay out. So you see that you really can't do their reading; they have to do their own. The reason is, is because only they know their own minds and what's in them. The cards in this exersize are merely mirrors of the psyche. The cards aren't mystically producing anything. The cards aren't seeing into them, rather they are seeing into the cards what their mind wants to show them. This is one of my theories of the affectiveness of Tarot in producing insights. |
Hi,
I so so disagree. From what you have written it is obvious you do not understand the tarot, what it is for, how to use it, and how to read its wisdom.
What you have described is a novice trying to give a reading to another. The blind leading the blind comes to mind.
The cards will fall as they are meant to so that the reader understands the message and so can relay it to the seeker, but only if the reader has sufficient understanding, knowledge and a solid bond to the cards after having attuned to them.
Tarot is a tool of guidance and inspiration it can give insight into opportunities and offer support and empowerment. The future is not set in stone and therefore any predictions and divination elements are open to the forces of the universe and can and will change.
