Yes it sometimes seems as if the deck does have a life of its own. ANd yes you need to ask it the "proper" question or it will give you a hard time. HEhehehehe
Like I had said before. This is the only deck that has to be wraped. My other decks are fine in a bag or the box they came in. I once placed the Thoth deck in a tarot bag and the next reading I did from it.... I just felt that it wasn't liking me at the time. After I put it back into the cloth. It hasen't yelled at me since   Strange, but true!

I once worked  costumes on "The Serpent" (a play) where the director was using the Thoth deck as the reference point for the artistic design. It was a really intense, ritualistic play to begin with, the authors went insane and  killed themselves after the show, so perhaps the deck wasn't the best choice. I had a feeling it would be a bad idea, but it is a really vibrant, beautiful deck, and at the beginning it was really positive and exciting.  Sometimes shows benefit from things like that, but it really depends. And the entertainment industry is embedded with superstition. It started to change everyone.   I ended up freaking out at the director and walking out half way thru the production.(surprisingly the crew was really happy that I yelled at him. alot of people were. I feel embarrassed about it still)  it had became too dark, less like theare. It started to draw up negative energy, everyones worlds became about it.   I just got to the point where I couldn't handle what the show was turning us into. It was an amazing show when it got up, but if the process was the point then it is a realm of arts that I don't like getting into. It is a really powerful deck, and should be used with respect.

On a side note, I found a deck about 3 years after that. It was even used, but I bought it. yes I know, bad idea,  but I got the weird sense that it might have even been the same deck, just from the marks on it. After a few years it seems to be a good deck. I haven't had any sense of negativity with it. It is one of the favorite ones I work with.
