How or why did i get the wrong person- or does Tarot try to bring your attention to some thing more pressing

This happened a couple of months ago but also just before Christmas last year as well-- i got the wrong person

I tuned in to my cards this is before i could hear my Guides (that's just starting)
My Godmother/who as been like a mother is a water sign. was in hospital i wanted to know if she would fully recover I got 10 swords /Queen of cups/and the death card
been as she was in with her heart i thought the worse
i used eight of the nine Tarot packs i  had at the time(except for one pack although i don't remember what these cards where) all produced the same three cards i had told my guides that i would be using all the packs as it was an experiment with Tarot
But the following week my partners mother died
i know the queen of cups is water sign  and can also represent mother
can any body tell me what other detail i should have looked for--Please

because i can feel smell and partially see my guides but not convinced every message is from them and not me i have asked my Guides to communicate through the Tarot cards i am confident enough to say that i do have some psychic ability which i am developing
i asked if she would make a full recovery  because after five weeks in hospital and no hint at that time of her coming out the situation was having a great impact on my life and i could see no end
i do however agree that questions of death should never be asked and if i was asked by anyone i would never predict death in anybody's cards

I take it by this answer you don't think that when you ask a question of the Tarot cards that they will try to tell you something more important that is going on, than the question you have asked --Thanks for taking the time to reply

I think maybe the cards show something that is going to happen but not necessarily to the person in question. I drew the Death card for my sister but told her it meant big change and 2 hours later her boyfriend's mother died. Coincidence? Possibly.

I often get the same cards if I reshuffle and reask a question.

Thank you Starryskies your answer confirms what i was thinking and now ill read the cards more openly minded and look at more possibilities before i come to conclusions when reading for my self
