I have been interested in learning to read the tarot, but the images overwhelm me. Angel cards seem to be easier for me to work with. Is it just a matter of an individuals preference as to the tools they choose? Or does one have an advantage over the other?

There is a massive difference between the two forms of decks.

There are probably a thousand or more different tarot decks, some with very ancient history, and only a few dozen of the more modern new-age Angel card oracles. Angel cards are obviously more easy to work with because nearly all have messages printed on each card with the message and meaning of that card. All the cards are 'angelic', none have meanings that may be taken as a divinatory, they help, they guide but they do not foretell. In many ways the cards only depict good things happening.

Angel Cards do not have cards like The Tower, The Devil, Death or The Hanged Man, and although the meaning of these cards isn't necessarily death or hanging etc they do show a true to life picture of power and vices and rebirth as well as sacrifice and change.

Both kinds of deck do not need any specialise psychic power or for you to be in contact with angels or even believe in them. They will both give readings at face value. Most oracles have a very limited use and are sometimes only really good for providing support and giving the message from that designated card's namesake. This in itself can be good fun and provide support in a certain situation, but in the end they can feel very limiting and leave the querent with many questions and confusion.

Oracles are brilliant for self-readings as the meanings and messages printed on each card is very clear and do not need much interpretation, as shown here

Fiona "Now that you have asked the angels for help, be open to receiving diving guidance and assistance, You deserve Heaven's help!"

Whereas in Tarot you may have chosen the 2 of Cups and Temperance which would both be meaningless without further knowledge and interpretation skills.

Now which is better? Which has an advantage?....

Neither, both are very different.

If we then add to the discussion other oracles such as crystals, which might show which crystals would be of help right now, or Animal oracles which would give animal totems and show us which strengths, values, and powers of each animal are needed at the moment, or Egyptian and Native American oracles which can portray situations and events and are much closer to tarot.

Personally I love oracles and have many that I use for myself and to give others readings. I would like to see more oracle readings given, not just Angel but all kinds.

Should the readings be in Tarot or Psychic? Now there's another question lol.

My fiancee has both an angel deck that she found at, of all places, a flea market and a Gilded Tarot deck. Although I agree that there IS a great difference between the two, I ALSO believe that you should use whatever you feel most comfortable using. She feels quite at ease with both, so she has the best of BOTH worlds

I agree, they are totally different but there seems to be so much competition between tarot readers and angel oracle readers. Well, maybe not competition but oneupmanship then, debate on which one is better. Both can be accurate but both have situations where they are best used too.

Should the readings be in Tarot or Psychic? Lol, neither they should be in an Oracles sub forum surely, then that would cover all other cards like the Medicine and Animal and Crystal ones? Youdon't have to be a psychic to use cards at all. And I also think that many are put off by Tarots dark reputation, so they wouldn't look in here for angel or animal readings?
