My husband and I really really want to have children. Right now, I do not think that my health situation is allowing me to as I have a severe weight problem. After my husband goes to basic for the Air Force we will have awesome insurance and I'll be getting a weight loss surgery which should solve the problem of my weight hindering our conception. Since I'm counting on getting pregnant after the surgery (as most women concieve more easily afterwards) I did a tarot spread trying to see about when it would come about.

I laid out the cards (I made the spread up myself) and since I am a beginner at reading cards, I had some trouble figuring out the meanings and how all of the cards related.

I'm going to list the cards and spreads and I hope I can get some insight on it. Also, I was wondering if anyone knew of any cards/spreads that would also help give more information.

1 : When we will concieve
2 : Circumstances during pregnancy (Financial, whether hubby will be there during, etc)
3 : The pregnancy itself (difficulty carrying, etc)
4 : The birth
5 : After the baby comes home (hubby's location, how our relationship evolves, etc)
6 : The baby him/herself (gender, health, personality)

The things in parenthases are the things I wanted to know specifically.

The cards (Rider-Waite):

1 : 7 of Wands/Page of Pentacles (I was confused about how this related so I pulled again after all cards were layed out and got Page of pentacles)
2 : 9 of Swords
3 : 7 or Swords
4 : The Empress
5 : King of Cups
6 : The Chariot

I have a very general idea as to what was being said, but if anyone could elaborate and giver deeper insight, I'd really appreciate it.

Again, if you have any better spreads for the topic of pregnancy, please share.

After reading your post there were a few things that I wanted to suggest. First  It is a good idea to learn how to use the tarot thoroughly first before making up any spreads and reading on such a subject. Personally I would not do such a reading on a sensitive topic as pregnancy, it is set up for disappointment and heartache. The Future is NOT set in stone yet, you can make changes and those changes are what you should be concentrating on now, not fantasising about things that will come later. I would rather concentrate on getting you well and fit before you begin the ttc stage. That would be a positive area to read on, what do you need to help you lose weight, what is stopping you, how can you help youself etc etc. Questions that will help raise your positiveness and not cloud your future with wrong interpretations about a future event.  There are many questions and areas that tarot should not be used in and this in my humble opinion is one. Don't do it. Instead re-order your cards, then re-shuffle and try another spread on you and what you need to know right now to make your life better and happier.

I know these words might seem harsh right now but I have seen so many people get deeply upset by readings such as this, and all for no reason.  Good luck and let me know if I can help you with the cards in any other way

Thanks for the advice. Let me explain a few things in my post. I know that nothing that the cards say are set in stone. The future is forever changing and I'm aware of this. I was just hoping for a little insight into what may possibly happen if my husband and I stay on our current course. I've been reading cards for about a year now, so I know a thing or two, but I still consider myself as a beginner. As far as what I need to do to lose weight, I have that already planned, the lap band surgery. I also know, and stated, that I am not healthy enough at the moment to give birth but after I have the lap band surgery after a period of time, I will be healthy enough to have children and I plan to do so. I really appreciate your concern and advice.

Hi Virathree!  I agree with Gem on this. Nothing is set in stone and our paths are constantly changing based upon decisions we make moment to moment whether they are spontaneous, planned, conscious or sub-conscious decisions. To foresee if you are to be with a child in the next year or so would be unfair to you because if we hypothetically did a reading at this moment and the cards said you would be, it raises your hopes. If something happens during that interim where a decision is made by you (spontaneously, planned, conscious or sub-consciously) and you don't conceive, it would be a let down.

Right now, just focus on your health and what you need to do for yourself to get healthy and well. Take things one step at a time and know you can be what you will be. In this case, climbing mountains to get to the next because you have a goal. Conquer the mountain you're on first, then worry about the next one as you're climbing it.
