About a month back, one of my friends asked me to consult the tarot cards about whether one of her co workers will be leaving the company.
I did a one card reading and got 10 of pentacles. I asked the same question again and got the same card again. I interpreted it to mean that my friend's co worker will continue to work there for a long time. But 2 days back this person resigned and infact today is the last day she will be working thare as she got a better job. Now I am totally confused as to where I went wrong. Can any of you help? My other question is, when doing a one card reading without using reversals, how do I know whether a card means positive or negative with regards the question?

I just want to air my thoughts about the "reading"....which maybe might be right if we only see it another way.

Your friend ask you about his/her work situation if the would be any changes there and so on.

I then assume that you attune to your friend and not to any of his/her coworkers or the firm itself.

When you then get 10 of pentacles, which have :
Financial security; comfort; stability; among other...then this is more the answer of his/her situation.

Many times when a coworker change job, those who are back might move up in seniority, or the firm will benefit economic on such change, which will "secure" those job there are left.

So if we see it this way...the card might have been right....we only needed another view angle.

But I am not saying that my view is the right one

I always use Radiant Rider- waite deck.

Thank you for your insight Rhutobello. I also felt that the card was right, it was my interpretation that  needed some correction. As you have pointed out, the 10 of pentacles probably more closely represents her new job.  I also felt that I should have done a 3 card reading.
