Can anyone clarify why one does not need to provide details of DoB, time and place when asking for a Tarot Reading? How is a Tarot Reading different from a Psychic reading? Aren't both intituitive?

As you can guess from the questions, I am completely new at this and I would like to understand the science behind Tarot Reading. Thanks

Most tarot readers don't need the dob or name etc they rely solely on the cards and their individual link to the person. Tarot isn't based on astrology which obviously is solely based on date of birth, it is based on which cards fall and are placed where, which are next to each other and which are missing. A linkcan be made by just tuning into the querent, just by making a post your energy is there for all to feel and pick up on.

Some may want the date of birth and gender when using certain spreads so that they can choose the correct significator card for the querent. We will be covering this aspect in our tarot classes so I won't go into further detail here.

Some tarot readers are psychic too and some just haven't worked on that side of their life yet.

Psychic readers usually use no physical tools, no cards, oracles, crystal balls or pieces of mirror etc, they use the resources of their mind and for some psychics their guides and spirit helpers too. They see or hear or feel things, they can sense emotions and be shown pictures or told messages, much like a medium although mediums are more about connecting to the spirit world of the dead and those loved ones that have passed over.

Intuition comes into play with psychic, spirit and tarot readings.

Thanks Gem, for the very clear explanation. The MB Free Tarot software I downloaded from this site ask for name and DoB of the querant. I haven't got a deck of Tarot cards yet, hence I downloaded the electronic version. In using the electronic version, when asking a question for someone, should the question be framed as from the querant (e.g. how will my ...... turn out?) or on behalf of the querant (e.g. how will so-and-so's .......... turn out?). Also, for a beginner, what/which type of tarot deck should I get?  I'll definitely enrol in your tarot lessons class but I thought that I should clear up some fundamental questions before I begin.

Love and respect

Hi, If you are reading for someone else then the question should be phrased " what does xyz need to know about their abc?"  if reading for yourself then "what do I need to know..."  etc.  Reading for someone else needs some form of link to that person, perhaps concentrating on them, or focusing on their name, writing it down etc.

Most beginners will do very well with a deck based on the Rider Waite. The Universal Waite is a lovely more colourful version, but its really up to you.  Do try and make sure that any deck you get does have pictures for all the cards, many of the more traditional decks and the older ones have just a picture of 5 swords or 6 cups not a picture that gives a clue to the interpretation.
