I did an online reading yesterday, it was a five card spread. It's supposed to be for the next month or so, starting yesterday. It's just a spread in general about how life is going to be for the next month. I am having a hard time interpretating though because there is a lot more to figure out than usual.
Daily Lesson: Temperance
1. Main (positional) meaning | General | Position
Let go of posturing and concentrate on practicing what you would preach.
The card in the Lesson position represents the personal investment or sacrifice required to derive full benefit from your current situation.
Temperance in this position requires that you take the healing potion yourself before you prescribe it to others. In order to heal or guide others, one must first overcome the demons in oneself. Make sure that you are living in alignment with your own beliefs and philosophies.
Daily Lesson: Temperance
1. Main | General Card Meaning | Position
What is traditionally known as the Temperance card is a reference to the Soul. Classically female, she is mixing up a blend of subtle energies for the evolution of the personality. One key to interpreting this card can be found in its title, a play on the process of tempering metals in a forge.
Metals must undergo extremes of temperature, folding and pounding, but the end product is infinitely superior to impure ore mined from the earth. In this image, the soul volunteers the ego for a cleansing and healing experience which may turn the personality inside-out, but which brings out the gold hidden within the heart. (This card is entitled "Art" in the Crowley deck.)
Daily Lesson: Temperance
1. Main | General | Meaning of Position
The card in the Lesson position represents the personal investment or sacrifice required to derive full benefit from your current situation.
You have come a long way, gleaning understanding and wisdom from your experiences in life. The card in the Lesson position points to a remaining issue that holds educational value for you, or to some sacrifice you still need to make for the sake of your fulfillment.
You may have to let go of something you like, for the sake of personal development. Stubbornness or selfishness in this regard could cost you. It is crucial to acknowledge the value of your personal growth, the importance of your happiness. No matter how difficult it may be, honor whatever you are currently learning as you reaffirm a commitment to growing in your ability to live a loving life.
The Lesson position represents the Wisdom aspect of present developments. Some self-sacrifice on the part of the questioner is usually required, some personal investment called for in order to derive the full benefits from the opportunities you have to grow.
Near Future: Three of Fire
1. Main (positional) meaning | General | Position
You will get the support you need to remain confident and capable.
The card in the Near Future position indicates which way the wind is blowing with regard to your situation. If you follow the Advice card, however, you can improve on or neutralize tendencies.
With the Three of Wands in this position, some of the good fortune and cooperation you have been hoping for is on the horizon. Your pursuits bloom under this influence. Forces in the environment are willing to support you and your good idea is catching on with the one you care about.
You need to be organized, focused, and ready to face challenges. With a confident and open-minded attitude, you will be able to work with changes as they unfold. A common comment in this kind of situation is to "make hay while the sun shines." So, take advantage of this sunny moment and extend yourself in the direction of your goals.
Near Future: Three of Fire
1. Main | General Card Meaning | Position
This suit, most often called "Wands" and sometimes called "Rods" or "Staves," represents initiative, ambition, drive and desire. This is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking.
A Three in this suit symbolizes an inner balance that allows you to feel more optimistic about new endeavors you are committed to, or want to commit to. In the illustrated Tarots, the human character is standing on his balcony, watching ships leave the harbor, loaded with his goods for far-off ports, dreaming of the fortune he will reap if all goes well. Summon the optimism within you.
This energy must be patient and trusting, because he or she will have to wait some time to find out how the ships have fared. Meanwhile, a lot of resources are tied up until they return with the bounty. Only those truly confident in their ideas and abilities would undertake such a risk. This card represents the energy a person needs to take on great adventures and accomplish noble (and remunerative) deeds.
A detail that sometimes appears in the more esoteric Tarots is a winged wand with two snakes twining around it, called the Caduceus, which is Mercury's wand. This is an ancient symbol of the healer or shaman, one who can travel between the worlds to rescue souls from death or possession. Perhaps the feeling of empowerment this card represents points to the internal mechanisms of self-healing. Perhaps it refers to the courage it takes to be an entrepreneur or an inventor, which is in itself a magical process -- bringing not only opportunity for success, but also an awakening to higher potentials.
Near Future: Three of Fire
1. Main | General | Meaning of Position
The card in the Near Future position indicates which way the wind is blowing with regard to your situation. If you follow the Advice card, however, you can improve on or neutralize tendencies.
The Near Future position points ahead to the natural consequences of actions you are now or will soon be taking. This card can give you a sense of which direction the wind is blowing. It may refer to the whole situation or merely to one aspect that is front and center for you right now. This is the card of impending events but remember -- you still have power to shape the way things turn out!
This is about what could happen soon -- following the dynamics of your attitude and natural temperament. This is not cast in stone, however. If you follow the Advice card you can improve on or neutralize difficult probabilities that may be indicated.
Situation: Wheel of Fortune
1. Main (positional) meaning | General | Position
Your situation is changing. The future seems uncertain. Take heart, practice at being patient, and wait out the process.
The card that lands in the Situation position refers to the circumstances you find yourself in with regard to your concern.
When the Wheel of Fortune is in this position, your circumstances may be constantly fluctuating. The immediate future seems uncertain, so who can fault you for feeling a bit overwhelmed or confused. Do not take it personally -- a force may be present that is beyond your power to manipulate. Think of this energy as the great washing machine of life. If you put up with the churning, the rinse cycle and the final tumble, then everything will be resolved when it's over.
Still, it is a challenge to keep your composure. The part of you that prefers control feels helpless. What an uncomfortable feeling, not knowing when or where the wheel is going to stop. Wait and watch, and as you do, try to absorb and understand the process. Now is not the time to make any definite decisions
Situation: Wheel of Fortune
1. Main | General Card Meaning | Position
The central theme of what is traditionally called the Wheel of Fortune card is cyclical change. The Wheel keeps on rolling, churning events in a ceaseless progression of ups and downs, either way freeing us from the past. No one can escape its cyclical action, which can feel somewhat terrifying -- no matter whether we are rising or falling. When one is balanced on top there is a moment of crystal clarity, but the only part of the Wheel not going up and down is the hub, which is your eternal Self, the Source of Freedom.
Every one of us will occupy all the points on the wheel at some time or another. The cycle of the wheel is its lesson -- and we can learn to take comfort in it (as we do when we celebrate our birthday). If you don't like the look of things right now, just wait -- things will change. Of course, if you do like the look of things right now, enjoy it while it lasts, because that will change too!
Situation: Wheel of Fortune
1. Main | General | Meaning of Position
The card that lands in the Situation position refers to the circumstances you find yourself in with regard to your concern.
The Situation position provides a general context for your question -- the set and setting, the politics, whatever is going on around you that might be impacting the situation or issue you are consulting the Tarot about now.
Consider the meaning of the card that lands in this position in light of the issues, people, and forces shaping your environment and circumstances. This position is about that which is true from the start -- as in the hand you are dealt.

The Two of Coins in this position suggests that you stay flexible even when the outcome is still unknown. It's a good time to develop plans for various possible outcomes, both good and bad.

Challenges/ Opportunities: Two of Earth
1. Main | General Card Meaning | Position
This suit, most often named "Coins" or "Pentacles", is a symbol for a magical talisman that represented wealth or potential. This suit represents something supportive that is available to you -- whether it be health, some kind of talent, or a material or financial resource.
The Two in this suit generally features a youth juggling, with two coins juggled in figure-eight fashion, or just the coins without the youth -- one heads up, the other tails -- both flipping in the air. It is clear that until one or the other coin drops, the final call can not be made; there is more to learn before a decision can be made about appropriate action.
This card counsels patience, so do not allow yourself to be rushed. The figure-eight image is a symbol of immortality and eternity. Its message is "No need to hurry. You have all the time you need to work this out, no matter how things appear right now." Implied within this scenario is the idea that changes are in the works, but you will do better to stay calm until you have more information. Everything is in flux at a time like this.
Challenges/ Opportunities: Two of Earth
1. Main | General | Meaning of Position
The card in the Challenges/Opportunities position reflects how you can use creativity to turn a crisis or challenge into an opportunity.
The Challenges/Opportunities position helps you get the best out of your situation. it reflects the cutting edge in the situation, the learning curve whereby you can turn adversity into accomplishment -- using creativity and a positive attitude.
This card can point to recurring themes in the challenges you have faced in your life -- and to opportunities that may yet present themselves. Can you think of any patterns which are returning to affect you now? If so, try to recall how you have reacted in the past. Perhaps you can see new potentials, while noticing the hidden pitfalls too. Can you imagine a different way of responding to the situation this time around?
The wisdom of this card can help you turn surprises into strengths, blind spots into windows of opportunity. Bring creativity and flexibility to the way you go about your way in the world. Your expanding capacity will become an asset and source of inspiration to all.
Advice: Father of Water
1. Main (positional) meaning | General | Position
Support others with your strength and wisdom.
The card in the Advice position suggests a course of action which will harmonize what you want with what is currently possible.
The King of Cups in this position advises that you closely examine your conscience and bring your personal mission into alignment with what is best for everyone. You can then step into your community or situation with integrity and an ability to communicate the highest wisdom.
As this sweetens the environment, others will be inspired to raise their own motives and intentions to match yours. You will be providing an important kind of leadership that uses strong reassurance to help everyone work together. The most persuasive thing about you is the example of generous behavior that you exhibit -- much more powerful than preaching alone.
Advice: Father of Water
1. Main | General Card Meaning | Position
Traditionally, representing the energy of a King, this card usually portrays a watery background, with a man seated on a throne, holding the Cup of Mystery in his hand. Occasionally, his cup is fulminating like the mouth of a volcano, emanating light, but never boiling over.
The man on this card doesn't need to speak to communicate strength, passion and commitment. Sometimes he is robed like a priest or shaman. Intense and intuitive, he is a force to be reckoned with.
Advice: Father of Water
1. Main | General | Meaning of Position
The card in the Advice position suggests a course of action which will harmonize what you want with what is currently possible.
The Advice position may present a new option or direction, based on a different perspective on what could be helpful to you at this time. There may be a resource you have not accessed or a new point of view that opens your eyes to a solution or remedy you hadn't considered before. Or this card may simply reaffirm something you are already doing or planning on doing. It could even reframe the "problem" in a different manner altogether!
There may be one particular aspect of your life that needs attention. This could be an attitude, an unconscious habit, or some element of the environment that is impacting the way you take care of your relationships.
By adjusting your next move to take the message of this card into consideration, you are more likely to achieve better results. Yet there are times when even the concept of "doing" is too much. Contemplate this card from the viewpoint of possible avenues for action, if any. Then just let yourself flow gently along those lines.
